Pay game vs NCCU game- Pro & Cons

First of all, I guess I am still dreaming, because I feel our program will be back within the next two seasons. We must realize the level of cuts that were made in this football team at the start of last fall. The team basically played with majority of players playing their first game. This year we finally see some defense and some offense and most important Saturday they played four full quarters. We as Aggies have seen our share of wins and most recently seen our share of losses, even trouble doesn't last always.

I am a season ticket holder and will continue to be, now the incident Saturday was poor judgment on behalf of some young players who apparently care less about the tradition of this game than most of the posters on this board. If our AD was being honored, you assume the best of behavior would be exercised. I can't endorse my Aggies on post game activities - but as stated "We must protect this house", I mean simply don't allow someone to disrespect it, if any of you play the game you know after a battle like that, consider the losing streak, band noise, etc. clearly it was the straw that broke the camel's back.

So I am interested in whether BDF and company feel that a pay game against other FCS schools or continue with the NCCU game. I must weigh in and it is clear that our coach would like to play some of the La schools such as Monroe and Lafayette, he has the ties and within two years we should have the full compliment of players. This game will pay and maybe a Classic game can be added. I am luke warm at best with the NCCU game, because when I was in school we only played WSSU, I didn't see an Aggie-Eagle game until Raleigh. This game does very little in developing our team to compete nationally. Our team is currently going thru its worst time but yet can statistically compete with NCCU (we know scoreboard is what matters).

The conference has spoken this year by the scheduling of many $$$ games, NSU has earmarked Kentucky (lord help them) for next year. No disrespect NCCU, its my understanding the the request to play this game originated from NCCU, its clear that NCCU needed the game not us, the 2008 location is shaky at best, again no disrespect. If we can pull 12k in against Hampton while a labor day game for NCCU has only 7k where is the money, We are lock into WSSU for 20K attendance, we should be able to get another team. Aggie attend their home game, so its no big deal for this one game when we realize this is not the future (assuming no major change in MEAC). I know there has been a similar post earlier in the year regarding pay games but in light of Saturday, hmmmm.

The attendence will increase once we can wins some games.

I think we need to play Central. How do we look refusing to play them and then saying Delaware should be playing Delaware State? Not to mention giving up a guaranteed gate of 20 grand every other year is penny wise and pound foolish.

As far as a guarantee game is concerned, we ain't bothered to win not nay game we've played in almost two years. I'm far more interested in winning a game than playing some guarantee game in some town I have no reason to travel to. The only game we've bothered to come close to winning thus far in the Fobbs regime is the Central game and now we're talking about ending it because they acted like imbecillic coons and we decided to join them?

All that is needed is some self-control and maturity on our part. They can do what they want. I know it's very easy to say when I was not part of the post-game emotions but I also know that every time my self-control and maturity has been tested it has been when emotions were high. That's why it's called a test.

So, as for me I'd rather keep playing Central and take the high road when we play them. If somebody looks in and sees a bunch of civilized black young men fighting a bunch of foolish and ignorant young black men how will we know which group is which?

Well Dooms, not that I am on his (Fobbs) band wagon, I am surprise we have improve this much, just think these players have only had one full year of practice. I want to win so bad I couldn't bare to watch the game, I force myself to not even check the score until 8:30. We will not be able to win until late next year. The program needs money every other year won't cut, once the program starts to win the average attendance will compensate for NCCU every other game.

Maybe its me, but when we play NCCU regardless where we bring the bulk of fans, I have seen visiting teams coming to Aggie stadium (actual fans coming into the game not -just tailgating) fans actually do pretty well. I am concerned about winning like anyone else but I had to face reality at an Aggie Club meeting with the coach. I on the other hand enjoy travel, there is a worth of games to attend in the MEAC and CIAA, but to play someone from another FCS or lower tier FBS is money, as stated earlier the conference has begun to schedule such teams and we need to consider.

It is not even prudent to think of scheduling NCCU in 2008 or maybe 2009. This was not about some rivalry, this is about a university's chance in a provisional status, playing its first opponent and honoring their AD failing to conduct themselves properly. My family stated that NCCU fans and band had their moments. Doom, this is college, why would you do a halftime show, the same one you got a penalty for at your home game. I understand they were playing during herb last drive. we can go from here - no need to recap that drama.

Scary enough I vision something that happen in 1997 when my high school beat a team for state championship, the losing team actually walked over to their fans fully dressed helmet under arm and thank the fans, ok that may be a bit much, but some jester of good faith on behalf of NCCU. We must accept this program is trying to do the right thing academics is first. We will have our challenges just as other schools will in the conference, Coach Fobbs took the take your lumps now and be able to grow your program, transfers have been used to fill gaps in recruiting. I like Bill Hayes he had his limits, I will take these losses now, no problem.

Had to chime it hear. You think we can get another game that makes the money of a NCCU matchup? I dont know how many of those 20K at atttendence were students, but lets just say 3000 were students. Thats 17K times $20(not even factoring reserves). Thats $340K. Lets add about $30K for concession, vendor permits, tailgate passes, etc, etc. Now we at $370K. Split that by every other year:$185K(very ruff estimate, probably more)

How much did we get for playing Wake Forest that time? What did we get for playing PV?

Cant say I agree until I know those numbers.

I think we should play NCCU, but play it in GSO again. Give them a chance to redeem themselves for such poor behavior. I think D Todd has some leverage now to play the game in Aggieland again.

I think that would be a petty bush league move if she tried that, and would probably get blasted in the media worse for even trying it. We should go to NCCU next year since that's what was assumed when we resumed the series.

Remember how Alcorn did us after we went down there first? I would hope to think our administration would pull any crap like that with another school, regardless of the situation.

Aggie Monster, I believe the payoff for Wake game was 125K, there are several 100 k games out there, again I don't feel this rivalry, a series whereas we won 2/3 of the games, the program falls on hard times trying to do what is right and a school will act as if you are nothing, come into your house and disrespect their school let alone our team. I don't think we built our facilities on Aggie-Eagle money at least what we got, we got jacked on the Raleigh games , they got their money and had the nerve to ask us to write it off.

I will continue buying my season tickets but have no interest in seeing them play. I have some good friends that went to Central and I support them on both home playoff games and their so-called Labor Day game. Aggie Monster there is money games out there better than the risk and drama associated with NCCU, again if we win what do we get a lollipop, there is nothing to gain by playing them, I sorry. maybe it make you proud, me just being an 0-20 team taking the defending National Champion (just paper of course) to last second really does a lot who knows maybe it would have made front page even without the quote "brawl"

I must blame the media source that gave them all of the paper champion titles, when clearly Hampton was the best HBC last year. I realize it was to help them get their application approved or at least on the table. Let face it, we had to grow to get where we are and they have to also but its not A&T job to subsidize their programs, the game does little in preparation to compete nationally, if thats not our goal then we should fold their programs and do something else with the money. BTW Aggie-Monster these figure came from an attorney friend of my in the Deacon Club or what ever they reference it as.

Remember wins will come I have the time to wait, its pretty simple either you are in playoff or not, so all else really doesn't matter

NCCU is much too classless right now to deserve another game with us. On a night when we took time out to honor their athletic director, Central went out behaved like total buffoons.

I see a good a$$ kicking coming for NCCU next year and a serious dogging here in 09. I want to continue playing them for revenge. I want payback big time. I don't forget this type of situation easy. But also, the gate receipts are good when we play them at home.

i for one like playing nccu especially since the middle man has been cut out of taking all the profits!!! at this point the only games we have a chance at sellout crowds is wssu.. homecoming & nccu.... since fobbs doesn't want to play money games until we can hold our own we need as many nccu's as we can get.... what type of crowd does anyone think fsu or ecsu or jcs would bring to aggie stadium... i don't know... but rather than play in another upstart classic for less money than you could make at home the ad needs to explore playing local d-2 schools that will fill up the stadium.... playing savanna st. wouldn't be a bad idea & invite their band also... bottom line is... football needs to start bringing in some $$$$$....
