There won't be any conference sanctions handed down because this was a non-conference game. If any thing comes down it will be handled in house but I don"t expect any A&T players to be suspended or to miss any games but I do anticipate off the field punishment of some sort for those that engaged in the scuffle.
And contrary to most media coverage, it was never a riot as reported all weekend by local TV affiliates WFMY (Channel 2) and WGHP(Channel 8).
I spoke to both Coach Fobbs and Dee Todd directly after the incident and will give a factual report and my own personal observations on the game, NCCU's behavior, and the future of the series, if any, in detail in tomorrow evening's column here at bluedeathvalley.com.

Hopefully we want lose key starters over this. I personally dont think we should lose any, but someone has to be the goat.
Norfolk is probably our last chance to get a victory this year.

The only way we beat them is if they come in on a high over beating Cookman.
That gentlemen, is a very real possibility.

Man, as young people and as African-Americans in general, we have to realize that our actions are going to put under a microscope and over analyzed by the powers that be. Theres now word that next year's game is canceled and NCCU has suspended a player.
If coach Fobbs or higher powers suspend any key player (HERB, MIKE, SHELDON, OUR OL, DL) because of this incident, they did not just loose that one game against our bitter rival but they ruined any other part of our season.
We have to learn how to pick our battles and as much as I hate to say this, turn the other cheek. I'd rather have them turn the other way and loose no player for the Norfolk St. game and beyond rather than "Man Up", fight after the game and bring even more bad press to the team and program, the school and not play for an extended period of time.

I remembered when I was in HS and my team got into a team brawl after a close game. That brawl resulted in 5-10 players being suspended for 1-4 games and ruined our season. We went 6-4 with a team that was poised to win 8 games and go deep in the playoffs in Southern California.
Our coaches punished the team the whole week and told us that we had to be mindful of our actions on and off the field. Protecting your honor may result in you not living your life outside of 20ft high walls.

I cant remember which conference or rivalry it was, but during the games between arch rivals, they did the post game sportmanship handshake before [/b]the game. As silly and inconsequential as it may seem, it helped alleviate a lot of that animosity. It might be worth a try if the teams do in fact play next year.

Then the frontpage headline will read "Aggie Goes Postal at Work Place”. With a picture of you walking out in handcuffs with shirt where the editor has superimpose the Aggie logo. ;D

That might have put me back in just a good enough mood to make it through the day.

I think you'd be better off embracing the opportunity to explain that it wasn't nearly as bad as the media portrayed it than getting mad about it. That's the way you should look at it.

That's pretty much what I'd been doing. I've gotten everything from "How many students was it?" to "I heard yall fight all the time" etc, etc....
Just got tired of defending it by lunch time. I started just saying "It wasn't that bad, it got blown up by the media, and newspapers only give us bad pub anyway. Now go sit yo a$$ down somewhere before i go NCCU on your a$$ and stomp that picture of you and your kids thats on your desk. LOL"

Don't forget to throw their coffee cup with the pens in it across the room.
Don't worry mane, it'll blow over by the end of the day (so long as Dee quits answering her phone when the news calls).

I didn't do anything but read posts all day, back and forth between here Onnidan and MEAC, which is the reason I'm still here.

The fall out from the post game incident will continue for a long time. We really need to take a page out of the Florida-Florida St.-Miami rivalries on how THEY keep decorum before, during and after the game. The VOLLEYBALL Tournament (specifically the A&T vs NCCU match) will be played on campus instead of Hillside H.S. to prevent any incidents as a result of Saturday's post game incident. .....WOW.....

Man, this is crazy. What brotha will start a fight while looking at those tall fine women playing volleyball. Hardly anyone goes to those volleyball matches anyway, but fellows, women volleyball is the best kept secret going. ;D
