I assume most people here expect us to win this weekend and win big. By all accounts West Virginia State should be over-matched in all three phases of the game.
However, what in your mind would make for a truly fulfilling outcome?
Personally, I want us to deliver a FBS-type of beatdown on them - over 60 points on offense and no more than 7 points surrendered on defense.
I would also like for Mike Mike to rush for over 200 yards to make up for the poor showing at Coastal.
What are your thoughts?

I want the game so far out of reach by half-time that Quick plays the entire second half.

I agree with frisco on that one...both W Va. State and VUL.

The Yellow Jackets scored 21 first quarter points, saw their lead slip away, then rallied for a 34-31 win over visiting Johnson C. Smith in Saturday's season opener. Ricky Phillips (6-2 195 Sr) threw for 229 yards and two touchdowns and Aubura Taylor (5-8 195 Sr) ran for 99 yards while the defense recorded four sacks to lead WVSU. The Yellow Jackets got on the board first when LeFoyd Phillips(5-11 185 jr) ran for a 7-yard score with 11:35 to play in the first quarter. After the Golden Bulls tied it up Ricky Phillips connected on with Ervin Kent (6-0 165 sr) for a 73-yard pass and run. after the Jackets recovered a fumble at the J.C. Smith 12 a few seconds later Phillips found Deraughn Brown (6-2 200 So) in the endzone to take a 21-7 lead after one period. The Golden Bulls fought back to tie the game at 21-21 going into halftime. A WVSU miscue at their own 10-yard line led to a J.C. Smith safety and the Golden Bulls' first and only lead of the day at 23-21. Taylor put the Yellow Jackets ahead for good at 28-23 with a 9-yard scamper to the left side with 2:31 to play in the third. The senior added another score from 3-yards out with 8:24 remaining in the game. The Golden Bulls and Mother Nature provided some late drama before the day ended though. J.C. Smith drove 43-yards to score and tacked on the two-point conversion to pull within a field goal with 7:09 to play. The game was then suspended for 41 minutes due to lightning as a steady rain fell and clouds darkened over the crowd of about 500 fans. The Yellow Jackets were forced to punt but freshman Cory Broughton hit a high 37-yard kick that drove the Golden Bulls back to their own 20-yard line with no timeouts remaining. A couple fo quick gainers moved the visitors to the WVSU 45 yard line but the Yellow Jacket defense stiffened and a Keahn Wallace pass fell harmlessy to the ground on fourth and 13 giving the ball back to the Jackets who easily ran out the remaining seconds. Kent finished with 81 yards on three catches and Josh Johnson (6-2 210 Sr) 98 on six receptions. Tyler Long (6-0 210Sr) paced the defensive effort with 11 tackles followed by Dominique Matthews (6-2 190 JR) with 10. Wenly Belliard (6-0 215 So), Kenneth Starr (6-3 275 So), ex rb Kyle garretson (6-1 225 Fr), and T.J. Austin (6-1 215 So) each recorded a sack.()

I'd like a close victory.
Despite the fact we haven't had a winning season since like 2003, people are thinking we're going to monkey-stomp everybody we play. I think we, and the team, need something to bring us all the way back down to earth so we can accept where the program actually is instead of predicting wins left and right.
We're not there yet, and we're actually not particularly close. It will take time, patience, and hard work. After watching a few clips of the Coastal game I had to wonder whether the team practiced as intensely as they should have given their limited practice time. When you can't practice as long as the next guy, you have to make every second of practice time count. The coaches know this, I'm just wondering if the players forgot.
I'm sure Coastal whupping them was a partial wake-up call, but if they waltz in thinking any team is waiting for them to beat that azz, I have some video clips of the Lane game back in '95 to show them.
The team needs to understand the urgency under which they are playing. A close victory over a team they are supposed to slaughter would help in that regard.

If we eek out a close victory against WVSU, I think I'm going on vacation for another 6 months.

No disrespect Thrilla a win for these next two team just mean what it is. We just beat a Division 2 school. Nothing more nothing less. Just like NCCU beat fayetteville State. When they play Duke it will be embarrassing loss. Just like ours.
We cannot compete with the white schools until we have better number and dept.

I think that a 45-0 shutout victory should be satisfying enough...cause I don't know if we can shutout Johnson C. Smith, their previous opponent.
Hopefully ("prayerfully," actually), we can address all of the problems during practice this week, and come out fired up and ready to play.

How do you think the players feel when the people in the stands do more moaning and groaning then cheering? Truth-be-told, they hear the negativity and they are turning their ears off! Reward the progression not the perfection. Get behind the team and support and cheer!

I definitely think we should try to go ahead and get Mayhew the alltime rushing record in this game so we can put that behind us the remainder of the season.
