(because you cant put the band behind the visiting team. They would definitely claim "FOUL" and complain to the MEAC) several years ago the FAMU band was behind NCA&T, when the band marched through the team after the half time show there was almost a fight. The start of the second half was delayed at least 15- 20 minutes

I would think that aggierattler is well aware of this incident.

The start of the second half was delayed at least 15- 20 minutes Your memory is correct. Team was removed from the area to avoid an altercation and possible injuries. I would think that aggierattler is well aware of this incident. I was not in Tallahassee or working in FAMU Athletics at the time of that incident, but when I got back there in 2006, I was with the AD who was able to convince the head coach to switch the teams to the other side of the field. So, YES, I am well-aware of that incident between the football team and FAMU's marching band. HOWEVER, please keep in-mind that in almost all stadiums of our size (18,000-to-30,000 seats with no second level), the home team's head coach wants his team on the WEST SIDE of the field because the sun will be setting in the eyes of the opposing team for afternoon and evening games. It is a tactical advantage. It is the same reason that all pressboxes are located on the West Side of stadiums. At Bragg Stadium, the EAST SIDE is considered to be the so-called "home side" because that is where the students and the marching band have been since 1957. It's not for purposes of harassing the opposing coach and team. The visiting team's fans and marching band sit on the West Side (the pressbox side). When Rudy Hubbard came to FAMU in the mid-'70s, he moved the teams around in order to get out of that vicious sun-field and gain an advantage. It was switched back in 2007. BACK TO THE TOPIC, I don't think that it should matter where the marching band sits in Aggie Stadium. If it's behind the visiting team's benches, so be it.

My opinion is that FAMU is playing with fire! The band functions seperate from the athletic department even though cordination has to occur for game day. What goes on in those stands and when the band is on the field is in the hands of band.
The confrontation between the 100 and A&T football would have never happened if athletic officials would have notified the team officials and game officials (automatic delay of game penalty).

There is no denying that FAMU's marching band was out-of-control, to say the least. It didn't really matter what the athletics department dictated for them to do on gameday...they did whatever they wanted and had the blessings of the President's Office (who always paid their fines from the MEAC Office). BUT THEIR AZZES ARE UNDER-CONTROL NOW!!!

It's an outstanding move to put this game on a Thursday night. The MSU game only draws about 9,000 - 11,000 so we can probably do even better with some good marketing and promotions. Besides we still have six other Saturday home games for those who don't like it. Not about not likeing it , but i think that Sat games are better espically for Aggies coming from out of town. You have football practice on various levels , JV football , etc. I was just wondering if their was a way to ever get out of these games. Cause i never hear of a selection or the process of how games are selected. PS, Not being mean or critical... But i have no faith in the marketing dept at A&T. I cringe every time i look at those white panals on that scoreboard

The publicity generated will benefit the school when it comes to recruiting students as well as athletes , not to mention possible donors. Companies usually pay thousands of dollars for this type of exposure , and we are getting it for free .

I think the last non-homecoming game against them in Aggie Stadium was around 9,000 people. With a little marketing I can see us getting 16,000 to this game.

Lol , Please tell me the last game we had 16 K or more and it wasn't Homecoming, WSSU or NCCU? I believe it was A&T vs FAMU in 99 when MEAC title was on the line. Be honest with yourself, we not hitting 16K. 12 K is very possible, but I just don't see it. We just don't market ourselves well.....

gotta agree with professor, i don't see us drawing 16k to a thursday night game. we'll need a consistent championship caliber team in order to do that. however, i do think we can draw a very respectable crowd if we promote it properly...

With a good start and a little creative marketing I can see us getting 16k, especially if we go into that game undefeated.

14,338 on Thurs against NSU in 2009. They also brought their band.
14831 against Hampton.
I just don't see it , but hey who am I. 12 K is a obtainable goal. With no band, and a laughable opponet , lets keeps our goals low
