Saabman you are exactly on point. Oklahoma State wide receiver Josh Cooper signed an UFA contract with Cleveland and he's only 5-11 and runs a 4.65 forty. Eric Page from Toledo is 5-9 and runs a 4.6 forty but he signed with Denver. Jordan White, WMU 6-0 and runs a 4.69 forty. Jarret Boykin, Va Tech, 6-2 / 4.72 forty. ECU's Lance Lewis is 6-0 and runs a 4.58. Seriously, I could keep going . Any agent worth his salt should have been able to get WM an undrafted free agent contract. Perhaps he didn't sign on with an agent? look, a free agent wr in the nfl who runs a 4.6 has virtually no chance of making an nfl roster unless he's like 6-3 or taller with a whole lot of athletic ability. no wr in the nfl can create separation if he only runs a 4.6 forty. you can find 6-1 wr's who run a 4.6 forty almost anywhere. so to find one in the meac, which is one of the least competitive leagues at the fcs level, is no big deal. the redskins just had over 60 rookies at their rookie camp and outside of those who were drafted, they'd be "lucky" to find 4 or 5 guys who'll even get invited back to training camp, much less make the team. so why should signing a 6-1 wr who runs a 4.6 forty in an inferior fcs league that's not even nearly close to the fbs level be a priority for nfl teams? if ya don't have the size or speed they're looking for, you had better have experience against top notch competition just to get a "rookie camp" invite. ya'll act like it should've been a "no brainer" to sign miles as a free agent, but why? heck, howard's willie carter signed a free agent contract with the redskins primarily because he's taller (6-3) and probably faster than miles. however i must admit, on 2nd thought, i do agree with saabman that there is an unspoken bias in the nfl against smaller schools like hbcu's... Virtually all undrafted free agents are long shots to make an NFL roster. That wasn't my point. What I was arguing is that his production merited him receiving a UFA contract, especially when you compare him to other wr prospects with similar physical characteristics who did receive one.

Wallace is going to be successful no matter his career choice because of his character and work ethic. There will be a decent number of potential NFL prospects and free agents over the next three years coming out of A&T that will fit the pro game mold.

Look I could careless about the pro game!!!! That is what got us in the trouble with this APR, Kids think that they fit the pro game Mold and not hitting the Books!! Let's just slow the roll on this pro feeder school thing type of thinking and move toward the Academic pro game mold of thinking.

I just heard Wallace Miles got invited to a tryout with the Detroit Lions Yep, he has been invited to the Lions rookie minicamp tryouts. www.prideofdetroit.com/2012/5/11/3014651/detroit-lions-rookie-minicamp-tryoutsHonestly, there are many good players who do not make it onto an NFL roster. I was a fan of the USFL back in the day and I hear they are starting that league back up. That will be another option for many of our athletes. Best of luck Miles.

Hello First of all, let me thank you all for keeping Wallace and his legacy at A&T in the hearts and minds of Aggies followers. He is certainly an Aggies at heart, and whatever he does with the rest of his life, he will always remember the love you guys have shown hin during his time there. That said, yes Wallace did in fact receive a tryout form the Detroit Lions rookie camp. And he took with him, all that he has learned at A&T, and a fighting spirit that has won him an opportunity to compete for a spot on the Detroit Lions roster. He will remain in Detroit for now. He missed his commencement ceromony to follow his heart. His mom and I are so very proud of his accomplishments both on and off the field. This is just the beginning. He still has a long way to go before he can call himself a professional receiver, but if hard work is what is required, he isnwell on his way. Thanks again for the love. AGGIE PRIDE !!!o

Lions Reportedly Sign Sam Proctor, Wallace Miles www.prideofdetroit.com/2012/5/14/3019590/detroit-lions-sam-proctor-wallace-miles?utm_source=detroitsilvercrushblog&utm_medium=detroitsilvercrushblogby Sean Yuille on May 14, 2012 11:50 AM EDT in Detroit Lions News After completing their rookie minicamp on Sunday, the Detroit Lions decided on Monday to fill the two open spots on their roster with tryout players. Specifically, the Lions signed safety Sam Proctor and wide receiver Wallace Miles. Proctor, who played at Oklahoma, was originally reported as signing with the Lions following the draft. It turned out he was merely invited to the Lions' minicamp on a tryout basis, but he earned a contract this past weekend. Now there are indeed four rookies from the University of Oklahoma on the roster. As for Miles, he is from North Carolina A&T. Although the Lions had previously signed three undrafted free agent wide receivers, they obviously liked what they saw from Miles enough to sign a fourth. He joins Patrick Edwards, Troy Burrell and Jared Karstetter as undrafted free agents at the position who have signed with the Lions this year.

Looking and how Wallace started his A&T career and looking at how he progressed and ended his playing career, I have no doubt that he will out work others trying out for WR, and he will eventually become a good pro WR. And add to the fact that he is one of the nicest young men you will ever want to meet. Go Wallace!!

My old Running partner Lawrence Gaines gave me a call and said that Miles is a keeper...lol So he just may make the Team if he continues to show improvement in camp! They have two Receiver slots that are up in the air!! He also stated that the only thing that could hinder Miles is Miles. Gaines liked Miles chances of making the team! He said that the kid didn't have a drop the hold camp !! That was the talk of the mini camp..lol You can keep up with miles in camp @ www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/gallery?Avis=C4&Dato=20120513&Kategori=SPORTS01&Lopenr=205130803&Ref=PH&Profile=1049Also It was Mother’s Day, so naturally, the first thing Wallace Miles did when he signed with the Detroit Lions on Sunday, after a weekend tryout at rookie minicamp, was call his mom, Annette. When she didn’t pick up, Miles called his father's cell phone. And when Marvin Miles didn’t pick up, Miles tried the home phone, expecting everyone to be at church. Marvin picked up. “He told me he had a long, long Saturday, so he stayed home. So he picked up the phone, and then I told him (I signed), and we had a little special moment with each other on the phone,” Miles said today. “It was very emotional because he, like nobody else, knows what I really came from with football. I wasn’t the superstar high school player, top recruit. I didn’t even get a scholarship going to college coming out, so he knows everything that I had to go through, how much I had to work, how much I had to fight for a position and maintain my position. It was jubilant.” The Lions signed two tryout players from the weekend: Miles, who arrived at North Carolina A&T as a walk-on kicker and left as one of the school’s most prolific receivers, and Oklahoma safety Sam Proctor. Both took part in the team’s off-season workout program today, though the Lions, who had 89 players on their 90-man roster entering the weekend, have not announced a move to free up a roster spot. The 6-foot, 191-pound Miles had 70 catches for 1,048 yards as a senior – the first 1,000-yard season in A&T history – and tied the school record with 172 career receptions. “It gives the younger guys something to strive for,” Miles said. “It’s been a long time (since A&T has had a player in the NFL), so a lot of guys come through and are just like, ‘I’m going to play, and I know I’m not going to get an opportunity.’ But for me to come up here and make the 90-man roster going into camp says that we are good enough down there, we do work hard enough to get an opportunity to make this dream come true. I really hope it impacts them in a positive way.” Well said said Mr Miles well said!!! Good luck
