I'm still upset about that whooping yall put on us (BCU) in football last year. That cost us a MEAC Championship as well as a playoff birth. But you know what they say about payback. See yall in Daytona Beach on October 6th. And yes, we scheduled you ninjas for homecoming. #somebodyisgettingabeatdown p.s. Please bring the Blue and Gold Marching Machine and Golden Delight to "Da Beach" with you. ;D The last time we scheduled yall for homecoming (I believe it was 2002), the B&GMM showed up late so our fans took over the section reserved for the band. It didn't matter though because the B&GMM set up on the sidelines and gave The Pride the business in the stands.

Hey dere jb...yall got some good recruits down there? We have some excellent recruits this year and Coach Jenkins promises that we'll sign several more "field ready" transfers between now and the start of the season. I love the recruiting season because it satisfies my football itch. But in reality, you never know how these guys will pan out until they actually get on the field and do it. Heck, BCU's 1st Team All-MEAC running back this season was Isidore Jackson ( a BCU recruit out of high school). The 2nd team RB was Rodney Scott who was a 4 star recruit out of HS and Ole Miss transfer. Go figure. If you want to see some youtube videos of BCU's 2012 signees, check the following link. hailwildcats.com/2012/02/02/video-highlights-of-the-2012-signing-class/

The only fans that are allowed to po mouth are the ones from that little church schoolwith the smallest enrollment in the MEAC from "Da Beach". You know, the one that Bill Hayes use to kick to sleep. In all honesty, I am very impressed with what Broadway is doing and the MEAC is better off when a traditional great like NCA&T is good. In the late 90s and early 2000s, the A&T game was the game that BCU folks most looked forward to outside of the Florida Classic. It was a great on the field rivalry and I think we're returning to those days. FAMU, NCA&T, and SCSU are really the only games that the BCU faithful and especially the oldheads really get up for. It should be fun.

It should be fun. i will say this about bcu fans, and i'm not just saying this to kiss up to you. i think by far, bcu fans are the "classiest" fans in the meac. i mean, none of ya'll made any excuses after we beat ya'll. most bcu fans congratulated us and said we won fair and square. another example is when that controversial last second pass reception in the end zone by hampton against ya'll, most bcu fans publicly agreed that they thought the hampton receiver had made a legal catch. of course, they later justifiably recanted when they found out the rules clearly stated that it wasn't a legal catch. but the fact that they were honest enough to admit that they initially thought it was a legal catch (even though it wasn't), says a lot about bcu fans. you guys have class. even though i like coach jenkins, i still miss shine. shine knew how to stir things up! as you know, he and bill hayes started a rivalry between us and bcu that was personal. i don't think it trickled down to our fans, but it definitely trickled down to our players. some of the hardest hitting games i've ever seen was when hayes and shine's teams went at it. well, good luck to the wildcats in 2012, except against us...

Well...those are nice looking recruits headed to BCU. So, it looks like you guys will be loaded again. We are trying to get to "Loaded" status...but, it's coming along.

jb,
I was at that game in 2002. Man, what an exciting time it was! I have some of the game on tape. I do remember the Aggies holding on for the win, and one of BCU coaches throwing a football at the officials as they left the field. That was my first time visit Daytona and BCU.
Later that night, we saw that the officials were staying in our hotel. We asked the question about the call he made on the punt return that took 6 points off the board. He said the kid didn't need to block the guy because the runner was about to score. The BCU player blocked the A&T player from the backside anyway forcing him to make the call. What a game it was though! I think BCU had an Ohio State transfer that was supposed to be a beast of a player.

It was 2003, the Championship year. I was there also and very pissed. They oversold the stadium is an understatement. The Fire Marshals weren't letting anybody in, not even reserved seat ticket holders. This is like 15 minutes before kick-off. Just think airfare, hotel, car rental, reserved seat tickets and these MOFO ain't letting me in. Fortunately, it wasn't just me; it was hundreds of people, hundreds of angry Aggies and crazy azz Florida people. It was ugly for a while, I mean real ugly. Mofos were climbing the fence, charging the gate, talking big trash to the Fire Marshal, but he didn’t unlock that gate. That's right, y'all Mofos were locked in. We called Charlie Davis, he came down, gave us this ain’t my stadium speech. Good thing he didn't get too close to fence. More people were still coming all the time. You could hear the crowd reacting to the action alternately on each side of the field. The bands were going back and forth. We finally got in just before halftime. My boy said he ain’t ever going back down there, and he hasn’t, I haven’t yet. I wrote Lynn Thompson a scathing email before I left Florida; dude wrote back and basically told me to keep my azz in DC next time. Ain’t that a MOFO.

I hated the outcome of that game, especially since Rashen Mathis' (of Jacksonvill Jaguar fame) punt return touchdown would have gave us the lead and likely won the game for us. But you are right, that was a great game. It's one of the most memorable Bethune Cookman games in my book.

Yeah, we tried to pack 18,000 in a stadium designed to seat 10,000. To be honest, that happend several years in a row and I stopped going to BCU homecoming games for a few years. I literally attended most every home game except homecoming for 4 or 5 years.
