I don't think the fact that you have a Miami or a Texas A&M on schedule is going to convince them to come, when they know you are going to get embarrassed in front of those pro scouts you mention. In my opinion, what would sell a recruit is the belief that your program has a legit shot to win the conference championship and advance to the playoffs. As we sit right now...A&T has a reasonable shot at a conference championship next season. I speak to recruits all the time and that's it. "Can/Will we win the majority of our games and compete for the conference title at least a few times before I graduate?" They are not in the ACC or any other FBS school, so just because you play one isn't really a huge draw. Most FCS school dont even know their non-conference schedule before a recruit commits. Some do, but most dont. I bet those same recruits your talking to about winning the conference can't name half the teams in the MEAC. It's just the nature of a top athlete, I want to play the best, because I feel like I should be playing at those D1 schools. As an athlete you never feel inferior that what makes you work harder to become better than your opponent. For instance my cousin was a undersized linebacker that lead the cumberland county schools in tackles, picked western and I asked him about his choice he said..."we play alabama next year" My belief is that with our current facilities there's no way a top recruit should be looking at App. St. WCU over us and i think that scheduling plays somewhat of a part in it. I just don't know how big of a part

Aggier2u, unless I missed it all I've seen you post is "I know the real deal" or "We are scared to lose". Never saw any actual reason. If I missed it excuse me. This is the first time anyone on this board with any REAL credibility has said what the numbers were that I've seen. It's not that big a deal......the person that told me is VERY credible. He has told me a lot of things that were true. For instance, Phil McAlpin would be fired 3 wks before it happened AND some other things. Because of his position (job) I will not reveal some other credible info he has given me. He also told me, "the folks are afraid right now because we don't want to take a lost". This comes from a person who NOW, not last year or the year before, works in a position of know. You have to believe what you believe....that's on the individual. I know my source. It does not come from somebody who USE to work at "T'.....this person is still employed there in a VERY HIGH position. This is the last time Ima speak on this. I always want the best for us....I was just passing info that comes from a credible, reliable source that works at A&T RIGHT NOW that knows what he is talking about! Peace family!!!!! I think no one at A&T wants to “take a loss” to anyone on our schedule. However, if WSSU turned down the opportunity to hang a loss on us and at the same time make what appears to be an overly generous amount of cash, then they need to hush it about 2012. Apparently, we decided not to deal with them anymore and moved on. At this point, I could care less if they are on future schedules or not. I do think not playing WSSU hurts them more, especially with recruiting. The fact of the matter is, they were in the MEAC and had the opportunity to meet us on a yearly basis to sooth that chip on their shoulder. Winston not being able to play the “hated A&T” rests squarely on them.

I just don't know how big of a part App has excellent facilities and wins the conference on a regular. We dont have a recruiting edge on them right now unless a kid just dislikes Boone and the "surroundings" itself. Kids are motivated by different things. The part that suprised me the most when I use to interview these kids was how little influence the parents had on most of them. They normally made their own choice. A few other things that surprised me was how many (no matter what school they were going to) had NFL dreams and thought NOTHING about what the school could do for them academically. Those were the same ones whos parents let them make their own choice. The ones who's parents were involved were the ones that paid attention to academics. They would say stuff like "Well I chose A&T because I liked the staff AND they are strong in what I want to major in" and didn't base it solely on winning. And no, they absolutely do NOT know all the teams in the MEAC. But they also dont know all the teams in most FCS conferences unless they were raised around it. Kids from Durham always thought that A&T and NCCU were always in the same conference, lol.

Monster.....yes that was it. It was not a casual comment that is the position of the powers that be ("we do not want to take a loss w/them THIS YEAR so therefore we will not play them") oleschool....there was never an offer for THIS coming year that 50K offer was for LAST year. Hope that clarifies what I have been told. Let's move on!

The rams have the best hbcu program in the state! 21 victories in 2 seasons have y'all even won that many games in 5 seasons lol where was all of this "noise" 2 years ago when ya'll were 1-10? ya can't compete with the big boys, so you tucked tail and hauled azz back to the ciaa. why don't you spend your time on wssu's message board instead of ours? oh dang, i forgot. ya'll ain't got one. besides, we offered ya'll 50 g's to play us and ya'll were the ones "scared". tucked your tails and ran again...

why don't you spend your time on wssu's message board instead of ours? oh dang, i forgot. ya'll ain't got one. Quote of the day. Sums up WSSU perfectly. 21-2 and still tryna ride the coat tails of A&T. How hard is it to create a message board? Build your own brand. Give us a legitimate reason to put you on our schedule other than a winning season in a lower division.

It's a difference there. I get what you saying though. Thanks for clarifying. Guess this topic is put to bed. Turning down $50K, whether it was last your or not is just crazy. They wont make that money for any other away game. They wont even make that at some of their own home games, lol. Someone give us something else to debate besides Eaves and WSSU, LOL. I'm done with both situations.

Really appreciate the insightful data 4XL.
Hopefully, most of us will take this as a positive step towards restoring our confidence in A&T's athletic leaders.

Monster is right again...we are not playing WSSU this season because of financial differences so let's move on. When WSSU fans get tire of beating those great football powerhouses like Shaw, Livingstone and JC Smith, maybe they will decide to lower their asking fee and play us again. Until then, they are a non-factor in Aggie sports. But I believe that WSSU needs us more than we need them.
Oh by the way, let me know when Eaves has packed up and left Corbett Gym!

Yeah...scared isn't really in the equation at all...it's about finances. But, logic would say if you are stuck on the scared issue....if someone offers you 50k to play/fight or whatever you are doing and you refuse that would hint towards that fact that you are scared. But, I'll say missed opportunity on both sides...sorry to say, that's the story of OUR folk. Sheez! Now, Hayes thinks he's so smart, but yet so Dumb.
