It's really an indictment on the quality of play in the MEAC. We see it every year. Remember NSU went undefeated and won the title!

Hey, NSU was not a MEAC powerhouse and should have lost today. As long as the MEAC has teams that don't play everybody in the conference and no MEAC Championship game, we are going to have teams like NSU slip into the playoff. But give Broadway and the boys a year or two and then bring on the playoffs. We will kick a few butts. Go Aggies!

mtholley>>>>thanks for the correction. NSU was 7-1 in conference play. The point I was making is that since the MEAC champ (occasionally there have been two teams representing) has been going to the playoffs very seldom has any team advanced past the first game.

It's not that the teams from the MEAC are less talented players in the playoffs. IT'S ABOUT THE BIG 4 as I call them DISCIPLINE, EXECUTION, TECHNIQUE and TRUST! WHICH IS LACKING IN THE MEAC AS A HOLD !! The MEAC and SWAC sends players to the PRO's like know other FCS Conferences, but have yet to make a complete run at the Championship because WE HAVEN'T GRASPED THE CONCEPT OF TEAM PLAY. Look at the other FCS teams that have won Championships and you can count on one hand how many of their players are in the Pro's.!! The Concept is simple it's not even hard and can be seen with the eye!! The teams that have won championships PLAY WITH DISCIPLINE,EXECUTION,TECHNIQUE AND MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL TRUST. A PLAYER CAN BE COACHED ALL DAY BUT, IF the PLAYERS DON'T HAVE TRUST IN EACH OTHER THEY MAY WIN THE CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP BUT NOT IN THE PLAYOFFS! YOU HAVE TO HAVE A TEAM CONCEPT!! If Broadway can get A&T to the post season and we play with a Team Concept. We may just make a Deep run in the playoffs. But with out it we will be just another HBCU that won their CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP .

DON'T FORGET ABOUT "MONEY" SAABMAN. THOSE SCHOOLS THAT WIN IN OUR CATEGORY HAVE BIG MONEY BACKING THEM. LOOK AT APP STATE THEY HAVE TOTAL SUPPORT AND MONEY FROM THEIR ADMINISTRATION. THAT IS WHY THEY CAN RECRUIT TOP PLAYERS AT THEIR SCHOOL.
OUR CONFERENCE TEAMS DOES NOT HAVE SUPPORT FROM THEIR ADMINISTRATION LIKE SOME OF THE SCHOOLS THAT WIN THE MAJORITY OF THE TIMES. WE HAVE GOOD REPRESENTATION SOMETIMES FROM OUR CONFERENCE BUT WE JUST DON'T GET THE SAME CALIBER OF ATHLETES AS SOME OF THE OTHER SCHOOLS. WE HAVE MANY ON OUR TEAMS BUT NOT AS MANY AS THEY DO. THAT COMES FROM "M O N E Y" AND REAL SUPPORT.

Fellas, I think Saabman's big 4 are important but the schools that win consistently in the playoffs start with great coaches. App State has had a great coach for years and he wins games. Here's how it goes...get a great coach first and he recruits better players because he knows how to coach talent. Great coaches plus great players adds up to wins. And if the program wins, alumns will show up for games and make donations. And when that happens, the school adminstration and community gets behind the team with financial support. But it all starts with a great coach. Unfortunately, the MEAC typically has poor coaches. One or two will dominate but on average they are poor coaches. For example, how many former MEAC coaches go to bigger coaching jobs with other schools? Hey when they leave coaching in the MEAC they disappear. So "DISCIPLINE, EXECUTION, TECHNIQUE and TRUST" is okay but you better hire a great coach if you want to win consistently in the playoffs.

I to agree with saabman but go back and look at ODU schedule they barely beat Hampton in the final minutes by 2 points. Hampton is a good example of a team with talent but just sort disfunctional

The reason why I did not put Broadway in the Big 4 is this ("If Broadway can get A&T to the post season and we play with a Team Concept") You can not Coach trust that has to come from the Players. I no that we have a (H) of a coach and Staff and so do the players. In practice under a coaches eye a player on Offense can hide his distrust in a player or players. But in a game it comes out in forced passes to players that are covered when others are open. That is trust and it drives a coach nuts when all week he throws to the open guy but in the game he will not.
