There are lot of big head to head match ups this weekend in the MEAC starting with A&T at Howard for their homecoming but when you look around there's a lot of big games with not only major conference race standing implications but also some coaching futures on the line as well.
BCU at Norfolk State - Big game for Norfolk but this a trap game for the Spartans as BCU has rethought their offense and made some changes after their loss to A&T. There are some match up problems with BCU that NSU will have with the Wildcats that A&T didn't have to deal with.
If they play good defense against the run and stop the big pass play, I really like BCU in this one on the road in a track meet by a surprising two touchdowns.
NCCU at Hampton - Unfortunately for NCCU something is going terribly in the wrong direction and even the staunchest of Eagle supporters are questioning what is going on when the coach publicly ridicules his own players and calls them soft to the media. Not a good move, whether its true or not.
The NCCU defense and special teams have completely disappeared over the last two weeks and now turnovers have replaced a once capable offense.
Hampton is way too fast for NCCU and now the Eagles having to put together with a make shift offensive line, and having a boatload of injuries on defense makes it even worse. The mental aspect for NCCU has been lost and its very debatable if Henry Frazier can help find it for his club again before the season's end. Hampton wins easily by at least 21.
FAMU at SCSU- FAMU got back on track a little bit by thumping a slumping SSU team last week but SCSU has found a replacement for Wiley at QB and they seem to be much more balanced on offense now.
If State will simply come out hit the Rattlers in the mouth and not try to be cute this one goes south quickly because of their physicality over finesse. No contest.
If Buddy Pough decides to experiment and tosses the ball around and such this game will be real close and they could end up in a NSU type outcome.
FAMU will be away from home and will play for pride despite rumors that Joe Taylor will be out. I don't buy that scenario entirely but this game will have an impact on his future. SCSU slips through in a good one for a while by 17 points.
Morgan at DSU- Morgan is on a roll all of sudden after Don Hill-Eley got his wake up call three weeks ago. But Kermit Blount's team won't quit and the three teams Morgan has beaten have not been very good offensively and Del State throws enough to score on any team and if they avoid the turnover bug they can hang with Morgan's defense.
Being it's homecoming in Dover and the Hornets and the Bears play some tough close games every single year, I will go with the upset with DSU pulling the upset and picking off the Bears late by a FG.
