Maybe it's just me BUT I'm just not understanding the "game zone" messed up the Homecoming Experience argument. Maybe IF there wasn't other options I could halfway see your point BUT there were plenty of other options on or near campus for people to take part in without feeling left out.
People had tailgates in the parking lot that runs in front of the Technology Building down to the Book Store AND there was the FAN FEST which was FREE. If you REALLY wanted to just tailgate then why not go in that area?

We should only sell GameZone ONLY tickets IF and ONLY IF we sell 21,500 tickets before the day of the game.

Did anyone get reprimanded for firing up grills on campus outside of the gamezone?

Is it all about money? Is that where we are? Whats next a toll road to get on the yard? Think about it? How much cash did you have when you were in school and you and your boys rolled over to Durham for a game? Or when you were in high school with your crew going over to where the drums and action was? Did you have cash like that?
> I get the reason for the move/change. > As the team wins, the $ will come.
> Is money the only form of support? Is bringing a tray of wings to add to the tailgate support? Is buying a t-shirt support? What about staying in the suggested hotels? Buying from those who advertise? What about buying from a vendor and they end up with a good take? Support?
What about the kids seeing you vibing as an Aggie with others, while they look at themselves and snicker at the scene of it all. What will they say at school the next day? They will love it! And we wonder why people have all of this Carolina Gear. Our Brand is not only Academics, its Family, its Sharing the pot of chili, its not peering thru the fence.
I know that one can go to the old stadium for the music an all. But is not the Aggie Tailgate where you sit down and be you. The Alums are at the tailgate.
I get what we are trying to do. The jury is still out to me.

I liked the tailgate area a lot better with less people. You don't have to have an overflow crowd to have a good time. Most people I talked to loved the new fan zone and did not feel that paying for a game ticket to enter was a bad thing, they actually thought it was a very good thing. I feel that this new fan zone will payoff for A&T in the future. As for the Sheraton, I did not have a problem with the way they handled things this year. I actually thought it was a lot better. No waiting 30 mins. for an elevator. No elevators broke down this year due to being over crowded. The parking lot was not trashed this year like it has been in past years. I came out to get my car Sunday morning and the parking lot had little or no trash. Overall, I had no problem with any of the changes made this year.

I didn't see any difference in tailgating for a Homecoming game, but it was lighter than usual for the Coastal and BCU games. I didn't check the back area, but it looked about the same.
I'm surprised that we didn't have a higher attendance number. I guess the fans haven't heard we are winning. It must be the economy.
They need to just close Elm Street from Market to Washington. Downtown was alright. What time are places suppose to close or stop selling alcohol in Greensboro. Or is there a Homecoming exemption? ;D

How was the tailgate area atmosphere versus prior years? I remember bringing folks to homecoming and they would just walk around with their mouths open at the sight of all the people and activity. That was what made Ayantee have the right to even pretend to call homecoming the "greatest homecoming on earth."
If attendance was down, I wonder how that will affect the opinions of the recruits that came.

Aggie One ,you stated my thoughts and sentiments so well , I totally agree with everything you said. The definition of insanity is , " doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results ". As we have talked about before , we have to change our whole culture . The way we did things in the past wasn't getting the job done . It's ok to glance back at the past , but it's impolite to stare .

Lets just put it out there. Its all about asses. If you hate the tailgate experience now its because you cant just sit in one spot and watch asses all day. I'm going to admit it. I like the Game Zone idea, but dont for a second think that I didn't say "man, its going to be less asses out there to keep one eye on!". Who else feels me!? LOL

If all the folk who "supported" the program in the past by showing up to tailgate and hollering Aggie Pride WERE listed in the book of financial donors to the athletic program and/or the university, I would have a problem with having to pay to enter the game zone. If that were the case we wouldn't have a money problem. I had several debates with Aggies over the weekend none of them attended any of the meetings in any of the cities that Broadway and Hilton visited and had very little knowledge of our budgetary woes and what its going to take. And some spent good money go travel here from out of state, paid for a room at the Sheraton for the weekend, haven't written a check to the university and didn't want to pay to enter the tailgate area. The extra to do that was too damn much. Come the f on Aggies! Put it up! But they were happy that we won!

We should see $10 Gamezone only tickets for sale if and when we hit that 21,500 mark for the NCCU game. Homecoming has traditionally been the only guaranteed overflow sellout. If we can’t sellout homecoming with a winning team on a 70 degree sunny day then I doubt seriously if we will sell out the NCCU game on a cold day in November. It should be a good size crowd at the NCCU game though. I'm surprised that we didn't have a higher attendance number. I guess the fans haven't heard we are winning. It must be the economy. 35$ tickets in this economy discourages walkups, families and non alums for an HBCU game. I’m not saying change the price, but realize that you won’t get the same stadium population with that price. A&T probably made more money though. I think next year will tell the story.
