When people tailgate they do not wish to be rushed. That one hour rule is sorry and inconsiderate. If people were to abide by this dumb a$$ rule they would have to start packing the majority of their equipment up before they went into the game. We are not kids nor thugs and we have not had any shootings aka N C State at our tailgate spots. When the game is over we like to continue partying a little bit longer. A good rule of thumb would be to be out of the area 2 hrs. after the game. When you put certain people in charge they get carried away and infringe on our cultural traits. They do not know our history and they institute rules that are for other schools like N C State, Duke and Carolina. Personally, I am leaving no later than 2 hours after the game.

It ain't nothing wrong with changing coaches when they have had an extraordinary time to win and they don't ( 8 & 9 ) years. We have had other basketball coaches with the same budget woes who were winners. Coach Corbett won 7 straight Championships on a similar budget. He could recruit and coach. Coach Cal Irvin won hundreds of games, Championships and had to teach full time on the same type budget. It is the coaching and how you produce on what you have. It is time for a change if things don't get no better this year - Truthseeker.

the fan zone ticket should not be the game day ticket also... a&t should charge 10-15 dollars to get in the fan zone... & when we play nccu wssu & homecoming.. charge 20-25 dollars to get in the fan zone... just think about the money that could have been made in the fan zone if we had played wssu instead of vul... charging to get in the fan zone is a good idea... but i think aggies are going to boycott being forced to by a game ticket when they have no interest in going inside the stadium... all alot of people want to do is just socialize... I like what we are doing with the fan zone currently.

Flat screens of the game in the restrooms and the Consession. stands. Hang them on a hook and remove them after the game. Or at the very least Audio in the restrooms.

Aggie1 are you saying that Earl Hilton does not know our history? Earl has been working at A&T for about 15 years and he has been the acting AD before. I think he is aware of our history.

good COMMENT Mr. BigBoy:
Hilton has ALREADY done more POSITIVE administrative/programmactic things in his short time, than ONE OTHER AD(that was VERRRY FAMILIAR/CULTURE and HALL of FAME) did in 2 years.

I am not saying Hilton is a bad A D. He has made a few good hires as coaches so far. We just have to see how they pan out. All I am saying is that it looks as though he does not understand the fun part of us tailgating. That one hour rule truly stinks and I am not the only person who is saying that. Don't take away our fun because he really does not understand our culture even though he has been a A&T for a "minute". That don't make you know our culture and traditions. If he knew the seriousness of our tailgates he would not have put in effect this dumb rule of leaving the tailgate area one hour after a game. It should be a time limit but not one hour and I know for a fact that other tailgaters said they would not observe this rule because it stinks. A&T has gotten so screwed up lately about certain rules for our so called safety ... they have taken the fun out of everything that we have traditionally liked. Our games and Homecomings will not be the same as before and they have already taken the festive atmosphere out of Homecoming. You guys can brag on Hilton all you want but he is not a man of 'color' and he just don't understand. Let him do his thing as A D but stay out of the social part of our activities.

The other A D(s) mentioned were not good A D's but at least they knew the traditions of our University socially. They did not tinker with time limits in the tailgate area. They knew the importance of the fans and how they like to tailgate and have a good time.
I don't see anything wrong with charging to get in the tailgate area. This has cut down on a lot of free loaders and "rift - raft". I just don't liked to be rushed at the tailgate especially at big games like WSSU, NCCU, S C State and Homecoming. The administration "bombed" out with this rule. Face it.

I don't see what this has to do with the topic. I know most threads veer dramatically off course but this thread is specifically for suggestions for Earl Hilton. If we spend time complaining/bashing as opposed to giving well thought out, constructive suggestions, then the thread will be a total waste of bandwidth. Let's try to stay on topic, and stay constructive.
If you don't like the one hour tailgate rule, give you reasons and leave it at that. Don't mention ethnicity, past ADs, etc. You can always start a new thread if you like.
As for this thread, let's stay on course...

Thanks Dooms
I like the idea of flat screens in the concourse and audio in the restrooms . We also need to bring back more vendors , takes way to long to get food .

The longer people stay in the tailgate area the more A&T has to pay the security staff and the "campus cops". They have to be out there until everybody is gone. Anyway, this is what I was told!

aggie1 :Coach Corbett and Cal Irvin may have had the same budget But they didn't have the Recruiting problems that HBCUs have now. They could get all the top black talent coming out of high school then. But it's not like that now! We have to compete against the bigger school for the best players with a lower budget to work with. Back in IRVIN,CORBETT and Big Houses day they had so many great players that they could afford to turn players away. ie Vernon Earl Monroe (Earl, The Pearl, Black Jesus) . Times have changed and so have Budgets . Back on point: Why don't they just change the tailgates the price of the game like they do at most schools.

Don't campus police have to patrol campus regardless? That's a lame excuse. Again, first the fan zone and now this. How about all the fans just show up 2 hours before the game and leave right after. I don't know much about this Hilton guy but so far he is not doing well in his tenure as AD. I can just hope it gets better
