D'Vonte Graham, who led the MEAC in interceptions last year will Redshirt this upcoming football season. After watching the cornerbacks get bombed up & down the field in Saturday mornings scrimmage by our receivers. I asked a coach where was Graham, and he informed me that Graham would redshirt this upcoming season. Not because of grades because his grades are good but because of an altercation he got into last year and the situation couldn't be resolved in a timely manner. The coach also said he believed Graham was the best cornerback in the MEAC and in the top ten in the FCS in coverage abilities. Another Coach said that Graham was the lightning rod of the defense and his fierce competiveness could get the entire defense playing at a different speed. Senior Star Justin Ferrell will take on Graham's job of guarding the opposing teams top receiver this year, coaches said.
Our Cornerbacks were terrible on Saturday, especially number 12. Let's just hope our coaches find a quick solution to this problem. Without A pass defense nor a running defense. This season could be longer than the last!

Well, I hope you were bracing for the worse before you go this news.
It kinds of sucks that D'Vonte Graham will have to redshirt, if this is true. that will put our Defense in just that much more of a bind. Thankfully, most of the passing games in the MEAC are questionable at best. Also, if our offense is making our DB's look bad, that is an excellent sign that we will not struggle much putting up points.

Oh it may hurt us some, but there aren't a a lot of great passing teams in this league or on our schedule. Still we have a few surprises in store that we will work on and with over these next two weeks to offset that missing part of our secondary. We'll be fine by the opener.

Graham was probably our best player on defense so this will hurt tremendously.
In other news, starting OL Thomas Hearns got rolled up in a pile in practice last week and broke his ankle. He is out for the year but may also be able to redshirt.

D"Vonte told some people out at practice last week that his situation has to be discussed and voted on by the BOT, and that the BOT will not be able to deal with his situation until they meet again. He stated that they won't be meeting until near the end of Sept. I guess the coaching staff figured they might as well Red-shirt him rather than wait that long. He would not have been the whole defence but he would have been a really big part of it.

Wait a minute, a BOT ruling is required (that's ugly). Two things; 1) are we sure he's even gonna be around to redshirt, and 2) the BOT meeting is scheduled for 9/15 &16, that's only two games missed and leaves all of the conference games.

Well, it depends on the stance the BOT chooses to take. They can take the: 1. "He deserves a second chance" stance or the 2. "That type of behavior will NOT be tolerated" stance. If they choose to take the latter, he's done. Our athletes definitely have to make smarter decisions, there is no other way.

It's definitely in the hands of the Board from what my sources tell me and they will not meet untll next month. The bruthas future is at stake and it is much bigger than FOOTBALL. He f**ked up big time. Physical beat downs and mob violence mentality is not gonna be tolerated. Let's hope for HIS sake and HIS future he has learned a valuable lesson. It is unfortunate because my source tells me he is really a NICE kid and a GREAT teammate!!!!

OK GENTS I have a ? Do we move forward are do we keep things the same?? Where do we draw the line? We do not need that type of behavior:Physical beat downs and mob violence mentality. Being a coach if it was me (the young man would be playing somewhere else) That is something that just can't be tolerated on A team that is already under the NCAA'S eye. Coach Broadway did right by given him a Red shirt and he should stay Red shirted for the season just to make a point. THAT IS NOT WHAT A&T FOOTBALL IS ABOUT. IF HE IS A NICE kid and a GREAT teammate!!!! THEN HE WILL UNDERSTAND AND STEP UP are STEP OUT. WE DON'T NEED THAT. WE JUST DON'T!!!!
