Hmmmm! www2.journalnow.com/sports/2011/jun/24/WSSPORT01-wssu-holds-its-first-prospects-camp-ar-1149546/Coach Connell Maynor of Winston-Salem State receives emails, YouTube clips and phone calls about possible football recruits on a regular basis. Sorting it all out can be daunting, so Maynor and his staff held WSSU's first "prospects camp" on Thursday at Bowman Gray Stadium. Division I programs have long held the camps during the summer, but they're rare for Division II programs. "I'm not aware of any of the CIAA schools that do this," Maynor said. About 30 high school players attended the one-day camp, paying $25 each to be evaluated by WSSU coaches and to receive advice on parts of their games on which they might need to work.

Hummmm is right...this is something we need to do at A&T. Just getting kids on our campus to see our facilities and what we have to offer would help out big time in signing prospects.

i think we need to remember that broadway and his staff were hired very late in the year and need time to get their feet beneath them. i mean, maynor has a full year under his belt already and has had time to plan out his entire year.
our coaches are still in the process of setting up their program and changing things that didn't work in the past. i think in due time you'll see broadway and his staff on top of things. but right now its about laying a good foundation and getting started on the right foot...

We should always do stuff that EVERYONE is already doing. I've been preaching about holding a 7on7 camp for almost a decade now and we still haven't seen a sign of that. I know our staff is new, so they get a pass this year.

Once Broadway and his staff get through this season, I don't think there will be a true comparison in the programs when it comes to facilities, competition levels and capabilities.
Keep in mind we do run against them some in recruiting but we are really mandated to recruit a completely different type of athlete academically as an FCS program by the NCAA than they do as D-2 member where the APR is virtually non existent.

The NCAA is looking at increasing the academic requirements for Div II using the APR system.
Coach Broadway is a veteran coach and he will do what he feels is right for him and his program. It may be about the length of time Broadway has been A&T's football coach but I think it is mostly about support from the University. The kind of support that will find sponsors so Broadway can have a football camp.

joe taylor has been at famu for about 4 years now and he's just getting around to hosting his first football camp at famu. it looks like maynor is simply ahead of the curve when it comes to setting up his own camp.
who knows what broadway has planned for the future, but i definitely think its worthwhile for a&t to host one too...

Coach Broadway as you will see is not one to follow others. He knows what he has to do at A & T and he knows what he is working with. From what I have seen of him and his teams is more of a Pro-Style offensive like USC . If we can get the kids on board with with his system then we will be on Broadway (AS THEY SAY THE LIGHT ARE BRIGHT ON BROADWAY)

i'm a firm believer in leaving no stone unturned and a camp helps to accomplish that...
