GREENSBORO β The Sports Network recently released its top 10 list of running backs in the Football Championship Subdivision. North Carolina A&T running Mike Mayhew (5-10, 190, Charlotte, N.C.) made the list after a 2010 season that saw him rush for more than 1,000 yards.
Writer Craig Haley wrote: βThe 2009 MEAC Rookie of the Year has a natural ability to find a seam and get through it. He won't break away for long runs consistently, but instead compiles yards with his downhill style. Mayhew rushed for 1,082 yards and seven touchdowns on 221 carries as a junior, including 211 yards on 31 carries against a solid Bethune-Cookman defense.β
The Sports Network publication specializes in covering FCS football. The Sports Network Top 25 is considered one of the official polls in FCS football. The Aggies open the 2011 season against Virginia University of Lynchburg 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 3 at Aggie Stadium.

wow, that's a pretty good description of mayhew's style. in my eyes, this gives the sports network pretty good credibility...

Mayhew should be able to do major damage this year with a more balanced attacked. If teams fear our passing game it will make his life a whole lot easier. I'm looking forward to it.

If teams fear our passing game it will make his life a whole lot easier. When's the last time somebody "feared" A&T's passing game? When's the last time we had one?? If Broadway can accomplish instituting a credible passing game at A&T then that will be something worth seeing.

Or, the running game may open up the passing game. I see Mayhew having similar success that Greg Pruitt Jr. had while at NCCU.

WE R GOING TO BE OKAY. COACH BROADWAY HAS GOT IT. MAYHEW IS GOING TO HAVE A FANTASTIC YEAR. I JUST HOPE THAT COACH BROADWAY DON'T RUN MAYHEW TO DEATH LIKE OUR COACH OF LAST YEAR. HE RAN HIM MORE THAN THE REDSKINS DID "LARRY BROWN" BACK IN THE 1970'S. FIND MAYHEW SOME RELIEF.

I think we'll be fine in the backfield and on offense in general. Broadway's history isn't nearly as stubborn or as narrowly defined in his play calling or in it mixing it up on offense as Lee was.

pizzo, our new oc, is what intrigues me the most. i like that no one in the meac has a read on him. they may be able to get a feel for the guy by watching garner webb footage from previous years. but our personnel is entirely different from garner webb's.
i think we've got a competent oc and a competent qb in kindle. the o-line is respectable, our receivers are pretty darn good, and our running backs are very good (particularly if frederick is also back there). i'm expecting to see a pretty darn good offense this season. but its our defense that keeps me up at night. gotta get that interior line fixed...

If Broadway can accomplish instituting a credible passing game at A&T then that will be something worth seeing. Broadway has always established a balanced attack where ever he has coached. It will be the best thing to ever happen to Mayhew. Our passing game may not be feared, but I guess I should have used the word "respect" instead of "fear". I forgot how "exact" this board can be when it comes to wording
