Buchholz's Noble signs with North Carolina A&TBy Larry Savage Staff writer Published: Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 6:01 a.m. Last Modified: Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 12:11 a.m. ( page of 2 ) Buchholz track standout Marquis Noble didn’t like the way his high school track career ended this season. He’s hoping to make an even bigger impact in the coming years at the collegiate level. The 5-foot-6 senior signed a track scholarship with North Carolina A&T on Wednesday at Buchholz High School. Noble, who won the Class 4A state title in the long jump in 2010 and won the same event at the prestigious Florida Relays in early April, hurt his ankle prior to district competition. Consequently, he missed qualifying individually in both the long jump and the 100 meters at this year’s 4A state meet. Noble, who also had college interest from Auburn and East Carolina, set a school record in the long jump (24 feet, 6.5 inches) with his state title leap last year, and had the area’s top times this season in the 100 meters (10.78) and 200 (21.80), both personal records. this guy has great potential and he's a steal for our program. i didn't realize our track budget allowed us to recruit all the way down in florida. perhaps we saw him at one of our meets at aggie stadium and began recruiting him there. i know we've picked up a couple of athletes who competed at nike high school events at aggie stadium...
