i'm not surprised at all. there's no excuse for this! we're dead last!! not even middle of the pack. its a shame! we can and should do far better than this... 2011 MEAC MEN'S ALL-SPORTS STANDINGSTeams with Total Points, followed by with points for cross country, football, basketball, indoor track, tennis, outdoor track and baseball in parenthesis): Also remember sports with divisional competition get points for division finishes (both winners get 12 points, second gets 10, etc., etc.)*1-Norfolk State (12-7-6-12-8-12-00 = 57)2-Bethune-Cookman (1-10.3-12-6-9-4-12 = 54.3) 3-Hampton (8-8-9.5-10-9-8-0 = 52.5) 4-Florida A&M (7-10.3-5-5-10-3-6 = 51.3) 5-Maryland-Eastern Shore (10-0-3-9-8-10-7 = 47) 6-South Carolina State (4-10.3-3-7-12-7-0 = 43.3) 7-Morgan State (3-6-8-4-10-9-0 = 40) 8-Delaware State (6-5-3-8-0-5-10 = 37) 9-Coppin State (2-0-9.5-3-7-2-5 = 28.5) 10-Howard (9-3-1-2-12-1-0 = 28) *11-N. Does the asterisk mean we might be missing 12 or 10 points for a tie? We have 0 for baseball right now.
If so we at least move to 9th, LOL. It's sad really.

Part of the reason we're so low is that we don't field as many mens programs as other schools. Most MEAC schools field up to 8 mens programs while we only field 5. That makes a big difference.

Cop out.... That's not totally a cop out. We sucked in football but other than that I think we did somewhat respectable in the other sports. 1. football - next to last 2. basketball - 5th place 3. baseball - (tbd) 3rd or 4th place 4. track - 6th place 5. cross country - 7th place Add one or two more sports and we probably move up at least a couple of rungs. Remember, we don't get any points in the sports we don't offer. I'm not trying to defend our abysmal performances. Just trying to add a little clarity. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this. Aggiejazz?

well, in all fairness, at least overall aggie women's athletics is in the middle of the pack. looks like our women's programs are "carrying" our men as far as winning is concerned...
2011 MEAC WOMEN'S ALL-SPORTS AWARD STANDINGS Total points include cross country, basketball, indoor track, volleyball, tennis and bowling, outdoor track and softball in that order... Also remember sports with divisional competition get points for division finishes (both winners get 12 points, second gets 10, etc., etc.)
1-Hampton (12-12-12-7-9-8-10-7 = 77) 2-Maryland-Eastern Shore (7-5-9-11-7-12-6-0-8-6 = 71) 3-Norfolk State (9-1-10-9-8-12-12-9 = 70) 4-South Carolina State (10-4-4.5-10-12-9-8-8 = 65.5) 5-Florida A&M (4-7-4.5-12-10-10-7-10 = 64.5) 6-Delaware State (8-2.5-2-11-10-10-4-12 = 59.5) 7-N. Carolina A&T (5-9.5-8-5-7-7-9-7 = 57.5) 8-Morgan State (3-9.5-7-8-8-9-5-9.5= 59) 9-Howard (6-7-6-9-12-7-1-8 = 56) 10-Bethune-Cookman (1-2.5-3-8-9-8-2-12 = 45.5) 11-Coppin State (2-7-1-6-6-6-3-9.5 = 40.5)

Why is it that I don't hear ANYONE saying they have talked to Dowdy or Hilton about the sad state of affairs in athletics? People on here make noise but are not talking to the decision-makers??? Doesn't anyone see that is how we promote change? Why are people afraid???

Six Sports Football Basketball Baseball Indoor Track Cross Country Outdoor Track Thanks. I forgot to include indoor track. What is your take on the standings? I think last year we finished 7th. If football and basketball are in the upper third (1-4) and you get something out of cross country which we use as a training ground for track, we can consistently place in the upper third. Hopefully baseball will remain steady (with the right hire) and one day we can reinstate tennis.

Last year we placed 2nd on the womens side. Our highest ranking ever. Six points behind Hampton who won it.
