Former Oak Ridge Military Academy and Ragsdale standout Jay Canty is transferring from Xavier University to find a Division I basketball program that better fits his skills. He will have to sit out for a season, per NCAA transfer rules. "It was the best decision for both parties," former Oak Ridge Military coach Stan Kowalewski said, explaining that Xavier is looking to change its offensive philosophy to more of a half-court attack and that Canty excels in transition. "I as a coach completely appreciate that they were forthright with him, so he didn't waste another year or two there." The 6-foot-6, 203-pound Canty, who hails from Jamestown, appeared in 17 games as a freshman for the Musketeers, averaging 1.5 points and 0.8 rebounds in 7.4 minutes per game. Fellow Xavier freshman Jordan Latham, a 6-8 forward from Baltimore who averaged similar stats this season, is also transferring. www.news-record.com/content/2011/04/12/article/local_basketball_star_exits_xavier

It wouldn't surprise me to see the kid from B-more wound up at Morgan. Now, the other kid...I dunno.

Wasn't he verbally committed to High Point University before he signed with Xavier?
