Volunteer might join WSSU football staffBy John Dell Published: March 31, 2011 » 0 Comments | Post a Comment Winston-Salem State won’t be replacing defensive-line coach Mike Ketchum with a paid assistant. Because of budget cuts, the program can’t fill the spot, and coach Connell Maynor said he will use a volunteer assistant to replace Ketchum, who left to become the defensive coordinator at Delaware state. "Coach (Kienus) Boulware knows somebody who is going to come in and help us out as a volunteer," Maynor said. www2.journalnow.com/sports/2011/mar/31/volunteer-might-join-wssu-football-staff-ar-908399/

You guys keep wondering why we can't get talent..think about the southern situation where the girls couldnt afford to go to the WNIT, and now this, where they gave Connell a raise, but cant affort a DL coach...with these type stories, how can we look at HBCU's as a viable option for a legitimate college prospect..Not hating, just asking a question..

and only have 35 scholarships to give........but who is afraid to play who on Labor Day Weekend i didn't realize that one of the schools are "afraid" to play the other. what's the answer to that question? and by the way, its not like we have much more than 35 scholarships to offer...

if maynor had any kind of loyalty, he'd fork over some that raise towards the salary of a d-line coach. how can he sit there and watch his d-line coach work for free while he boasts amongst the highest paid salaries for a head football coach in the ciaa...

Amongst the highest in the CIAA? Heck he's amongst the highest paid in D-II. Perhaps top 10 in base salary!

That's the kind of thing that happens when you overpay.
He'd better have them boys come out with sparks flying out their behinds this year.
