The NCAA is stripping Maryland of three football scholarships because of poor academic performance in recent years, particularly the 2-10 season of 2009. The penalty will be imposed in the fall. It will be the first time Maryland has been docked scholarships in any sport since the NCAA began collecting such academic data in 2003-04. he scholarships reductions won't be announced publicly by the NCAA until it releases its list of Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores and penalties in the late spring. Maryland officials confirmed the penalties Friday night in response to an inquiry. articles.baltimoresun.com/2011-04-01/sports/bs-sp-terps-football-scholarships-04020110401_1_football-scholarships-academic-progress-rate-maryland

Seems we aren't the only ones. I wonder if the N&R will give them a front page put down like they have us every time something goes awry. My bad, I forgot it's the ACC. I forget they can do no wrong.

man, this apr stuff is no joke. i'm still wondering how long it'll take for us to dig ourselves out of the apr ditch. its only a first time offense for maryland, i'd gladly trade apr places with them...

Since we got a 925 and a waiver on this last NCAA visit, I believe we get about half of them back this fall and the full 63 back in 2012 assuming we continue the same rate of progress from this upcoming school year.

We will take a step backwards. Always happens with a coaching change. Hopefully it won't be too far back.
