Over the last several months, my Aggie Pride has been somewhat tarnished. However, today my Aggie Pride is encouraged! After the turmoil of our Athletic department over the past several years, from the dismissal of coaches, the careless death of a student, administrative firings, the one win season of our football team and dismissal of Coach Lee, I often wondered if the shine would ever come back to my Aggie Pride.
From afar, I had not heard or seen a lot about Chancellor Martin to form an opinion about him. I must say today I am encouraged by Chancellor Martin. I am encouraged because:
1. We have a Chancellor that sought one of the best coaches in Black college football.
2. We have a Chancellor that found the $$ to entice an exceptional coach to come into a not so desirable situation.
3. We have a Chancellor that brought in a coach with prior head football coaching experience and is familiar with NC recruiting.
4. We have a Chancellor that brought in an AD with extensive compliance, administrative and personnel experience.
5. And yes, we have a Chancellor that does have a PLAN!
I have always been a contributor to the academics of A&T, but today I pledge that I will be an even bigger contributor to the ATHLETICS of A&T. I hope that all TRUE Aggies will join me in doing the same! We talk the talk, now let’s join Chancellor Martin in walking the walk!
