I disagree. Football is a totally different dynamic than basketball. Putting 5 players on a court in no way compares to what goes into fielding a competent and competitive football program that can compete in all 3 phases of the game.
You can find two good basketball players and fill in the rest. Football doesnt work that way.
And with all do respect, dont expect ANYTHING out of this years recruiting class. We probably wont hire a coach until late January and once he gets settled and into homes, signing day will be over and we'll be left picking from everyones scraps and leftovers. We're like a company w/o a sales rep in a territory, while our competition is beating on doors daily.

Jaffe,
For your information, I was not suggesting that Coach Bibbs take over the football team. That's a HUGE stretch for anyone's imagination. My point was in hiring Coach Bibb to take over an instable women's basketball program that was in deep trouble we used a process that proved to be a very successful one. That's right, we hired a coach that with a proven record of turning around a poor athletic program, showed her what A&T has to offer and convinced her to move from as far away as Louisana to Greensboro. Allowed her to recruit both high school and transfer-ins, etc. So you see, we have done it; we just have to do it again but for football this time. I hope this clears things up.

I know what you meant. My point was that turning an instable womens basketball program around is in no way close to turning around a 1AA Football program. Womens basketball does not move the needle at A&T. If nobody shows up to a womens bball game, theres really no harm. When people dont show up to see a football game, spreadsheets, graphs and numbers get put together to show how much money it costs us.
Aggie62, what was Coach Bibbs record during her first season?
Like I said earlier, signing to great recruits for basketball can turn an entire program around. Football is a different beast. Youve got 80 18-23 yr odl knuckle heads that you have to mold into a cohesive unit. I hope this clears things up.

I think A&T should bring a coach in like Pete Richardson...he still has about 4 to 5 years of coaching left in him. I would also bring in Alvin Parker at Elizabeth City State as an assistant and OC, and prepare him for the head coaching position in 4 yrs. Richardson will get the program back to prominent status, and have a young up and coming coach under his tutelage.

The fan base is already demoralized by what has taken place in the last several years. Alvin Parker is the main focus here. I don't think he's ready for a head coaching position yet but there's so much he can learn under coach Richardson and be ready to take over in about 4 yrs

{demoralized by what has taken place in the last several years}...So , you hire a reject (fired coach) to groom (coach in waiting like Maryland-didn't he leave?)................... Alvin Parker a 1999 EC grad who has coached at VUU and EC. I would think you could do better
