If you had a college bound football player/child would you pick(or suggest to your child to pick) A&T with offers from
A&T NCCU ELON Western Carolina WSSU Catawba App Fayettville State
I know it depends on the current athletes there, education, what position, etc, etc. Try not and let the explanation be a book though. Put them in Order if you really want to. Don't add anyone to the list either. I put the ones I put for a reason. i know a couple of kids that have just these options right now! Thanks for playing.
With that being said my order is:
Elon A&T App WSSU Catawba Western NCCU FSU

The worst thing that could happen is if your child doesn't get playing time and doesn't graduate.
Chances are they are not going to the NFL and nobody wants their son to have a college career like Jamal Edwards.
If they can be assured of getting some serious run before their eligibility is up and the school has enough academic support resources in place to help them get their degree, I would honestly tell the kid to pick whatever school he feels most comfortable with.
This is his first step in becoming an adult ...

BTW: If my sons were presented with those scholarship offers, I'd tell them to consider A&T.
They'll already have the academic stuff in order and I'll teach them that, no matter where they play, they'll have to keep working hard to be really successful.
All things considered, all those schools are about equal.

Thrilla man, you sure know how to mess up an "ambush", lol. I was waiting for someone to recite coaching, program and the whole nine, so I could spring the "not going pro" on them.
I would consider the academics first. My choice would probably be based on what he wanted to do career wise. Like you said, pro is unlikely from these institutions.

My bad ... but as the father of two boys, this is something I have actually done a lot of thinking about.

The consideration of a pro career wasn't a thought on my part. But a career as coach did, and based on that: APP ELON A&T The others are tied for last. Plus you catch me at a bad time, I'm really bummed out on Aggie Football. If I weren't an Alum I don't know if A&T would make the list.

App. A&T Elon NCCU (Unfortunately ) Those 4 schools seem to be the ones I would steer my son towards, If i had one and he was being recruited by the schools listed.

My bad ... but as the father of two boys, this is something I have actually done a lot of thinking about. Same here, I got 2 boys myself. I figure I would just stress academics and if genetics take care of business they will be like they dad, but hopefully more like granddaddy, LOL. Honestly, if I wasn't an alumn and didn't know about the overall A&T experience then A&T may not make the cut unless he plans on being an engineer.

My son plays high school football at SERH. Based on his personality and needs I would recommend: 1. A&T (the total collegiate experience & he always wanted to attend) 2. Elon (small good exposure) 3. NCCU (diverse) 4. App St. (too cold) 5. WSSU/FSU (small but could allow to growth as student) 6. Western Carolina (too isolated & cold) Coaching wouldn't be a big concern, however I need to feel as though he would growth both socially and academically. Of course the main goal would be getting his degree.

Never know, could get him written about or at least a few pics in the mag.

My son plays high school football at SERH. Great!!! SERH had a very good football team this year. I used to be the golf coach Southeast Raleigh High so I still follow them.

My son name is Jackson Melton (6' 0" 245 lbs) sophomore. He played o line. Next year coach Finn says he may play him at MLB and OT/TE. Also the starting QB David Washington parents both went to A&T.
