maxwell you have been asking me to name "those folks in dowdy" who are responsible for killing our athletics... i had my suspicions... but then i got a lead... so in search of the truth i had to go underground... this is what i've uncovered... our athletic dept. is not run by the AD... the AD is just a front man to take all the blame when somthing goes wrong... he along with the coaches takes the criticism while the real culprits keep making jackazz decisions... our athletic dept. is run by business finance people... they control the athletic budget... not the AD... this is how the people at the top in the dowdy building set it up... this was done during the fort administration & it has been this way ever since... when the fball team bused to indiana for the circle city classic & ate boxed lunches... this was not wheels idea... it was the business finance folks... how could the kids play good football & you're feeding them boxed lunches... when the football team bused to daytona... they left campus on tuesday & got back on campus saturday...!!!... how much class time was missed because of this bone headed decision... ... aren't we on probation for low APR yet the budget finance people don't care how much class time our athletes miss... "these' folks have killed our athletics...!!!! to be continued....

Well, at some point you have to have people that's not afraid to stand up to the administrators and fight for the athletes. If we have a yes-man or woman as the AD, then I guess we kind of get what we deserve. I know for a fact, Bill Hayes would have taken nothing short of flying his team to the CCC. Those are things that you can't teach the AD, they just have to have "IT" Put the pressure on the administration to make a screw decision and then let the alumni and the followers of the program know...there's nothing wrong with transparency. But "we" always have to do things behind closed doors to give the impression that something shady is going on. For BCU, the team should have been back on campus by Friday afternoon. So, everybody involved has a nickel in that quarter that your are pitching here. Business & Finance stance is and is alway going to be...to make sure that athletics stays within it's alloted budget for the fiscal year. In doing so, tough decisions are made. But, in some cases the AD cannot accept "no" as an answer. So, when we throw out blame, understand all factors involved. Sure, those decisions put our team at a disadvantage but, that doesn't give us an excuse to go up there and lay an egg. We've lost the majority of our games due to sheer UN-preparedness...let's be honest with ourselves first, then we can move forward. What happen at the NCCU game? They rode the bus? We have to rid ourselves of all these excuses...what we are doing as a football program is flat out NOT good enough. Plain and simple. Talent is on the campus...we have to use it properly! That hasn't been done to date. As far as the OC...I've yet to see him put together a drive where he's called more than 5 plays in a row that worked. The most I've seen is two...then a bad play! I don't ever see him get in a rhythm. Meaning, I haven't seen him keep a defense off balance for a full game...4 quarters. I've seen him do it for a good 2 quarters, they make adjustments and shut us down. Again, NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

ohsixrain,
You make some excellent points. However, a good manager (your example was Bill Hayes) would not except and I agree whether it Bill Hayes or not. For example, recently, our chancellor has been going around to various alumni meeting talking about our athletic program (e.g. Durham last week, Washington, DC soon). Many of my Durham friends were so excited about the chancelor's visit that they plan to increase their giving. I feel the same will happen after his DC visit. That's good management; if you need money go after it. Now think back to Todd and Wheeler, how many times did they go visit various locations talking about their strategic plans for our athletic program. I know neither one came to my area yet during their tenure the lack of money was a hot topic.
These are just 2 examples; one is of good management and the other is of poor management. You show an excellent program and I'll show you excellent management. On the other hand, you show me a poor program and I'll show you one that's been poorly managed. Your management makes or breaks you 100% of the time. I know of no exception to this rule even with coaches managing their ball teams.

I'm with ohsixrain. Win home games and games 50 minutes down the highway first. Then complain about not eating properly on the long trips.
We were undefeated at the CCC prior to this year. Did we fly to all those?
The bag lunch thing your talking about must have been for gameday because we saw the Aggie buses stopped at places to eat that Friday on their way there.

Truthseeker...don't sing the APR song to me...I know all about it. But, at what point do we stop making excuses, brah? You can honestly tell me that the reason we've lost 9 games to date is because of APR? I'll tell you, that's an excuse and a lie. Especially, since we lost to a Division 2 squad. If you do a true assessment of our football team you'd know that while we are restricted to some degree, but the majority of our woes have come due to poor coaching and execution. If you want to blame that on APR then, go right ahead. I'm not buying it. With our 44 shollys, we are still just as talented as over half of the MEAC teams. Get someone in here to use them properly then your perspective may change as well.

It seems obvious that you all have to not read the papers throughout North Carolina. There is a buget crisis that's having an affect on all the athletic budgets except for the likes of UNC, State, Wake, Duke, ECU and probably App.
This budget crisis is going to continue have a major negative impact on our athletic program if we don't find other means of financial support. More budget cuts are coming! Now, unless you got a million or two to donate, I wouldn't expect to many perks in the future. In fact, look for some money games to occur.

Finally, someone is paying attention and understands our dilemma. That information can be read on the thread posted by Born Thrilla last week on Campus News, although on campus it has been known for a some time. The crunch is going to continue. It will be up to the supporters to give some relief. The supporters contribute about 6% of the athletics budget, while the students are 65-70%. They are the ones that ought to be raising the roof and pointing fingers at the alumni and supporters for not being more supportive like the schools mentioned above.
