FAMU expects tough game from NC A&T

Even with North Carolina A&T having a 1-8 record, Florida A&M coach Joe Taylor wasn't just spewing out some quotable lines for the media during his weekly news conference when he tried to explain how dangerous the Aggies are.
"I know what type of guy he is," Taylor said, referring to Aggies coach Alonzo Lee. "He is not a quitter and his team won't quit."
Here's some proof: When Lee found himself without a starting quarterback after Lewis Kindle went down, he went to the Aggies baseball team and found George Hines. And, while his defense and offense continue to take turns at being inconsistent, Lee insists that no one on his team is simply playing out the season.
"The essence of this team is to continue to fight," Lee said. "We're hungry to go back out and prove that we have a good football team. It's no doubt about that."
And, who would doubt that his team will try? The Aggies have the best linebacker in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in Brandon Jackson. He has 77 tackles. On offense, Mike Mayhew last weekend became the leading rusher in the league with 1,042 yards.
"Our offense is really, really coming back," Lee said. "With our installment of Mr. Hines at quarterback it's been some great life.
"We've been running the ball well and now we're able to put it in the air a little bit more. We realize the state we are in and where we are, but each and every week we're going to continue to fight."
Defensively, the Aggies suffered their worst beating from Bethune-Cookman last Thursday night, 67-17. Lee said he'd hoped for a more physical game than he got from his defense, which he expects to be tested again when it faces the Rattlers.
