The good news is that today at his weekly press conference, Coach Lee announced that the HBK era is officially over.
Lee said he gave the HBK five and a half games to show what he can do and basically he just wasn't getting the job done. He didn't say it, but I think the straw that broke the camel's back was when HBK called his own play in the final seconds of the game this weekend when the entire coaching staff was signaling for him to spike the ball and stop the clock.
Lee said he will be platooning Lewis and Webb at quarterback the remainder of the season. He also said that a third new quarterback might see some action.
This is how everyone at the press conference responded when he made the announcement:
.
Oh, and the bad news is .... Lee didn't make this decision sooner. I tried to tell yall that the HBK was the HBK two years ago. It is a damn shame we had to waste half this year figuring that out.

I called for this move 2 weeks ago. It just makes sense to get a returning qb ready for next year.

Man, it was a party up in the press conference when Lee finally pulled the plug on HBK. Folks were high fivin', chest bumpin ... the whole nine.
I think Spencer Gwynn even started doing the Dougie for a split second.

Winless Aggies will go with young quarterbacks
Tuesday, October 12, 2010 (Updated 9:10 am) By Jeff Mills Staff WriterGREENSBORO — Six games into the season, N.C. A&T is still looking for its first victory. And, it turns out, the Aggies are still looking for a quarterback. A&T coach Alonzo Lee said Monday he'll replace redshirt senior quarterback Shelton Morgan when the Aggies play at Delaware State this weekend. Ricky Lewis will start. Lewis, a sophomore from Dudley who was the News & Record's 2008 high school player of the year, will be backed up by sophomore Terrence Webb. Both will play, shuttling in and out of the game depending on the situation. Morgan likely won't play at all. "We've given him five-and-a-half games of opportunity," Lee said. "You don't have to be a backseat quarterback ... to see we missed wide-open throws that could've made the difference in the last game." With five games left on its schedule, A&T (0-6, 0-3 MEAC) is guaranteed a seventh consecutive losing season. Homecoming ended with a 27-14 loss. The two big rivalry games — Winston-Salem State and N.C. Central — ended with losses. Lee would rather use the remaining games to audition young talent than stick with a fifth-year quarterback who has struggled. "We threw the ball 20 times" against Morgan State, Lee said. "Eight times, we just flat missed guys. ... It could've made the difference. We easily left 21 points on the field with wide-open receivers." Both Lewis and Webb have played limited roles this season after projected starter Lewis Kindle was lost for the year with a torn ACL in August. Lewis started the homecoming game as A&T opened in a Wildcat formation. "He's a definite talent as far as running the football," Lee said. "Making those throws is another thing, but we're going to continue to build on what he can do. Because Ricky is a winner." Doubt it. It was about this time last year he realized Fears might not be Joe Montana.
