Miami unstoppable in semifinal win over Michigan in Postseason WNIT Wednesday, March 31, 2010 – Miami has relied heavily on its starting guards all season, and the team’s games in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament have been no exception. In the Hurricanes’ semifinal game at Michigan, the guards came through again, combining for 43 points to lead Miami over Michigan 76-59.Riquna Williams scored 26 points, and Shenise Johnson added 17 points and nine rebounds to lead Miami (22-13), which is enjoying its best season in years. They will play the winner of Thursday’s semifinal featuring California at Illinois State starting at 8:05 p.m. EST. Michigan (21-14) saw its season end after a successful four-game homestand in the WNIT. The Wolverines had beaten their tournament opponents by an average of 25 points, and had kept opponents from scoring more than 57 points in any game, before meeting up with Miami. Miami has earned its way into the WNIT championship with wins over Florida Gulf Coast, Florida, North Carolina A&T, Providence, and now Michigan. www.womensnit.com/showstory.asp?id=current&eventid=33
