can someone please tell me why witter is in the starting lineup? Shouldn't you be asking a more obvious question? You are smart, it will dawn on you.

can someone please tell me why witter is in the starting lineup? We finally agree on something. He does a disappearing act on the floor (ghost). Upchurch would give us more presence.

can someone please tell me why witter is in the starting lineup? We finally agree on something. He does a disappearing act on the floor (ghost). Upchurch would give us more presence. i agree, he absolutely does a disappearing act! i don't understand why he's even in the starting lineup. he doesn't do any one thing particularly well and he's "soft" as hail! he's 6'8", yet he's only shooting 30% from the floor, averaging a mere 2 rebounds per game, and worst of all, he's so soft that he's only shot an "astounding" 2 free throws all season long! how is it that you've got a 6'8" starter who's only been to the free throw line twice! that alone should tell you something. he's soft!! he's got more turnovers (27) than assists (22), blocks (11), or steals (13) and he's only averaging 2.5 points per game. does that look like starter's numbers to you? with those weak numbers, you would think he could at least play some good aggressive defense. but naw, his defense is about as porous as the holes in my fishing net. man, i'd much rather start upchurch over witter. at least upchurch is aggressive, he ain't soft, and he hustles. plus, he plays less minutes than witter, yet he's more productive. witter averages 16 minutes per game, upchurch averages 10 minutes per game. yet, in fewer minutes played, upchurch shoots 53.5% from the floor, averages more rebounds per game (3) than witter and has been to the free throw line 30 times as opposed to witter's 2. plus, upchurch plays good defense. not saying upchurch necessarily should be starting, but i'd definitely play him over witter...

Looks like you assume Eaves is reviewing the stats to make his decisions on who or how to play; I would assume that he doesn't. If he did for example he wouldn't shoot 30 threes a game; he would shoot more like 20 and be in the top 3 of the MEAC. Eaves doesn't mind soft players; get used to Witter getting lots of play time regardless of the stats; I am working on learning to live with it because there will be three more years of this.

actually, i'm not counting on eaves to read the stats, even though he should read them at every half time and after every game. i'm not suggesting that he make decisions based on stats. i just used the stats to reinforce what i've seen on the floor.
to be a starter all season long and only earn two free throw attempts by the end of the season is very revealing. everybody on the entire team has attempted more free throws than witter. personally, i've "never" seen witter drive to the basket. and you're right, doesn't look as if things will get any better this season...

I agree with you; this is an interesting coaching style that we are experiencing.

It's quite obvious Eaves has no intrest in having Witter go to the basket. He is out there to shoot 3's.
