Does last night's WSSU total EMBARASSMENT!!! further support the CHANCELLOR'S "well thought out" decision to EXTEND EAVES' contract ?? I wonder if the DEPT. would have made the SAME $2.1 MILLION in out/conference guarantee games...if SANTA CLAUS had been coaching...I just wonder. There was NO JUSTIFICATION before the WSSU game...and NO justification after the WSSU GAME to reNEW that contract---NON@ALL!!!

I saw the game and I have to say....meltdown! I'm not sure that it's coaching though...they play with no fire... ohsixrain, "everything" the team does on the basketball court is about coaching. no fire, no coaching...

Oldeschool, where are you? As much hell as you gave me, I sure would love to hear what you have to say. You remember how you used to say Bobby couldn't hold Eaves' jock? You called me insanely negative. I thought I was being fairly rational. Now, let's get one of those 5 paragraph narratives on how you feel about the situation. lol Just messing with you man. You were so wrong that I had to bring it up. bigboy, i was gonna ignor your comment because you're always "baiting" me for a fight. but the biggest difference between me and you is that i'll admit when i'm wrong but you won't. yet, i still stand by my assertion that eaves is a better coach than collins. but not "this year"! hail, no one has underachieved more than eaves "this year". so don't come up in here with this "i told you so" mentality because until this season, collins had "never" beaten eaves and you couldn't say jack! i'd be willing to bet my house you were probably hoping we'd lose to winston so you could come up in here and beat your chest! and as usual, i was minding my own business until you again called me out! so don't complain if you don't like what i type about you, you called me out, not the other way around. so let me get this straight. just because collins kicked eaves' azz this year, that automatically means collins is a better coach than eaves? is that how it works? well then that must also mean that just because eaves kicked jackson's azz (dsu) and evans' azz (nsu) this year, that means eaves is now a better coach than jackson and evans, right? look, whether i'm right or wrong, i call it the way i see it. and in case you haven't noticed, eaves has "drastically" changed his coaching style this year and i have changed my opinion of him as a result. as i've told you "repeatedly", i'm not "locked in" on the perceptions i have of any coach. if eaves went out and committed a felony, do you expect me to still support him? well, he changed this year and he's not doing a good job as a result. but that don't all of a sudden make collins a coaching guru! that being said, eaves coached another horrible game last night. and it's not necessarily about x's and o's. its about how eaves let our guys go back to that "lazy defense" that they play which allowed winston to get back into the game. if i blame eaves for anything last night, its his inability to get his players to play "lockdown" defense instead of that "lazy i don't care" defense that we played last night! that crap really p'd me off! winston got hot in the 2nd half last night only because we gave them "wide open" 3 point shots! i watched the game on my computer, so i didn't have the very best of views, but there's no excuse for playing so soft on defense. to me, that alone cost us the game! so yes, i blame eaves for the loss last night. and yes, i agree eaves is doing a poor job of coaching "this year". i'm not gonna sit here and make any lame excuses for him like you did for collins, jackson, and evans when they were performing poorly. at the time that you and i debated about eaves, he did nothing of the sort that he's doing now. so i stand behind my assertion of eaves' coaching up until the beginning of this season. eaves has proven in the past that he can coach better than he is coaching right now. and one other thing, don't hate on a brotha because i know how to type and you apparently "one finger" it. if you learn what "home row keys" are, you may find that you can get a lot more typed than when you "one finger" it...

What happened to Eaves? When he got here with little talent, he coached the hell out of those guys. They were playing pressure defense and running the hell out of that flex he runs. Even if they were losing, they were playing hard. He had different assistant coaches then. Was that a factor? Now the players just go through the freaking motions.

Oleschoolaggie; SSU was down by 16 points at one time. I hate break the news to you but Collins outcoached Eaves last night and is a better coach than Eaves. Every coach in the MEAC would probably out coach Eaves; I have watched that for the last 7 years. Eaves has not produced a play after a time out that was successful that I have noticed; however he is not doing anything differently than what he has done for the last 7 years. I don't even think he reviews his stats; that alone would show him he should not shoot but about 20 threes a game. He has the biggest men in the conferance and no inside game; I believe when we go inside it is just because the players start going to the basket on there own. Can we get him some qualified assistants? Maybe they can talk some sense into him.

There is no def by our guards and its been that way all season. They will press but once the ball comes over half court they quit. Thats not so much the player as thats what they are instructed to do. Oldscool's correct the guards apply no pressure to jump shooters not even a hand in the face.
It probably goes back to the buisness of shooting threes. They are trying to hang around top of the court and cherry pick to get down the court and shoot a pull up quick three. Just crazy!!!!

Oleshcoolaggie; Collins "coached" his team from behind by 16 points, and the team took good shots. That is coaching; something Eaves has not been doing, and if our guards don't play def and someone sees that then why not start shooting from the outside. He just gets outcoached; no the other coaches are not geniuses they just now how to coach. We have a talent level in the top three of the MEAC; however we rank at best in the middle of the MEAC. Can we get him some qualified assistants? Maybe they can talk some sense into him.

Eaves' coaching really hasn't changed much. I've been to almost every game this season. He is running the same sets and everything. He is still running the same high post motion where the big ment are too far from the basket. He just doesn't have the personnel (recruiting - another aspect of coaching). Rush/Ewing and crew put up just as many 3's (think the 40-pt performance at Depaul), they could just make many of them. lol Eaves just lacks the depth of knowledge to expand his strategy to match his team! AND THAT'S COACHING!
As for Bobby, you're crazy. Yeah, you're right. It's the right time to toot that horn, but I was saying that when Eaves' swept him. Furthermore, don't ever forget that Bobby has had a top-3 finish, won a MEAC championship, and made it to the tourney homeboy. Eaves hasn't even been remotely close. And, of course, I'll say I told you so.................I've been saying the same freaking thing for 3 years only to hear you guys tell me I was an idiot. Now you're finally seeing what I've been telling you.
And for the record. I love Eaves' hustle!!!!!! He can do this over and over again and still get extensions! This has become a circus. lol Congrats to Eaves! Way to sucker 'em!
Just playing guys, I don't wish my alma mater any ill will. It was an attempt to be funny. Please don't say I hate A&T or anything stupid like that.

I would consider "lack of knowledge" and "depth of knowledge" two different things.

I would consider "lack of knowledge" and "depth of knowledge" two different things. that's because you left out the word "lacks" depth of knowledge which is how it was phrased...

Eaves has plengthy of knowledge. The guy played and Coached under Denny Crum. He was the point guard for nationaly championship team. He has more basketball knowledge than anybody on this board.
Its how he chooses to use his knowledge.

OK, I would consider "lack of knowledge" and " lacks depth of knowledge" two different things. See, I don't think the point was “lacks knowledge”, mainly because that’s not what was typed, but also because to me that implies zero. I take "lacks depth of knowledge" to mean that the current level of knowledge is not broad enough (hence the usage depth) or doesn’t encompass enough experience to successfully navigate a given environment. Just like when I was going to chess class; I had knowledge of the game, but it wasn’t as broad or as comprehensive as the instructor and that was proven at each session.
