Lol, think they tried to hide this? ;D Michigan administrator named provost at N.C. A&TFriday, February 19, 2010 (Updated 6:20 pm) Staff Reports www.news-record.com/content/2010/02/19/article/michigan_administrator_named_provost_at_nc_atGREENSBORO — N.C. A&T has named Linda Thompson Adams as Provost and Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, effective July 1. The board of trustees approved Adams' appointment during a meeting Friday. Adams has been dean of nursing and a tenured professor at Oakland University in Troy, Mich., since 2003, directing operations for a nursing school with a budget of $35 million. She currently leads a team of 150 faculty and staff in statewide operations, supporting more than 2500 graduate and undergraduate students, and four satellite facilities. Chancellor Harold Martin appointed a committee last July to lead a national search for this cabinet level position. "N.C. A&T is fortunate to attract a creative and scholarly professional with a proven track record like Dr. Linda Thompson Adams," Martin said in a news release. "She has over 20 years of leadership in university administration, teaching, nursing, plus public service appointments by a mayor and a governor. N.C. A&T will certainly utilize her exceptional higher education expertise and public policy, grants, scholarships and fundraising skills during tough budgetary times." The board also approved the appointment of J. Charles Waldrup as general counsel, effective Monday, as well as a three-year contract renewal for head men's basketball coach, Jerry L. Eaves

D@%*, D@%*, D@%*; I can just hope for the best. Thank goodness for the video stream; I can not sit through attending three more years of the same old. On the bright side maybe Wheeler Brown knows more than me and we will be contenders for the MEAC title from this point on.

Question: Does anyone know how much he will be getting paid? I hope he did not get a raise; he should prove himself before he gets more money.

I like many was hoping the Head Dawg would be moving on. Eaves coaching style and inabililty to recruit in his own backyard has been a major disapointment. Below is an excerpt from the Chancellor's press release distributed by the National Alumni. Puts a whole new light on the subject, which I think few of us have been aware of................
“My expectations for coaches emphasize both athletics and academics so I am pleased with how Coach Eaves has affected our young men’s performance on the court and in the classroom. He has graduated 20 out of 30 players; two are currently enrolled; two are playing professionally overseas. In addition, he has brought in $2,089,500 to the Athletics Department by playing guarantee games over the past six years. "

There are not many teams in the MEAC with our level of talent.

I agree.
Over the past three years the recruting class has gotten better each year. At least on paper at this point next years class will rival the 2007 Hampton class.
It really makes me no difference were the kids come from if they can ball. And he has always had a good representation of local talent.
As many have said leading up to the season it was our lack of success in the tourney and then this 40 three's off that has resulted in many fans posters etc. becoming vocal about Coach Eaves.

There are not many teams in the MEAC with our level of talent. So why has A&T not had a winning season in seven years?? I think we have been over analytical in explaining why A&T's program is mired in mediocrity. We can't seem to decide whether we like Eaves or not. Can't decide whether we want him to stay or leave. The reality is that we don't have the money to make him go away. So we come up with all kinds of reasons for not firing him. Good example is that he raises a whole lot of money. Does that mean that no other coach in the land can raise that kind of money?? Maybe he should become the AD since he has a knack for raising funds. Or maybe he should take McAlpin's job and raise even more funds. Somehow we are going to have to accept the fact that we are what we are, a mediocre program without money, and learn to love Eaves (well some people do already) for what he is as a coach. Someone mentioned that Eaves has turned the program around, I beg to differ. They have only turned 90 degrees or right face. He has only managed to slow down the bleeding. Turned around means the bleeding has stopped, resulting in a winning overall season as well as some tourney wins.

I guess he is here for at least the next two years. I just hope he Coaches to his ability. Eaves is no Fobbs (coach that never had the depth of knowledge to be a headcoach).
And yes he needs a stronger lead assistance (someone to work with post players). I just wish I knew were his head has been this season. As someone else stated our talent speaks to the top 1/3 of the league if used to their abilities.
Eaves is sort a wild card I would not bet either way as to how they finish out the season.

The ghosts of Aggie basketball past will still haunt me in my sleep. I think I'm gonna have to join the causal fans to get some relief. What will this make a seven year plateau? Then what, he gets three more because then it’s time to start rebuilding again. Have we ever had a drought like this in the history of the Aggie Mens Basketball Program? I guess DOOMS is right again. DAMN you Dark Angel of Aggie Logic!

From the fifties through the mid ninties A&T had a very good program.

At that moment I began to accept the inevitable.

At that moment I began to accept the inevitable. At last! I have been waiting for several years now for us to come out of the deep sleep. I know it's hard sometimes to face reality, but most of us are getting there. So in the mean time let's pray (for those of you who are heard up there), work some roots, cross our fingers and toes in hopes that coach Eaves makes it to the top, since he will be here for quite awhile.

February 19, 2010 A&T Chancellor Renews Coach's ContractNorth Carolina A&T State University Chancellor Harold L. Martin, Sr. announced a three-year contract renewal of head men's basketball coach Jerry L. Eaves. The employment contract renewal, beginning July 1, 2010 and ending May 31, 2013, was confirmed today by the North Carolina A&T Board of Trustees during its regular meeting. "Jerry Eaves inherited a program that was far from meeting the expectations of Aggie fans and supporters," Martin said. "His leadership has progressively helped our team turn the corner to move in the right direction. "My expectations for coaches emphasize both athletics and academics so I am pleased with how Coach Eaves has affected our young men's performance on the court and in the classroom. He has graduated 20 out of 30 players; two are currently enrolled; two are playing professionally overseas. In addition, he has brought in $2,089,500 to the Athletics Department by playing guarantee games over the past six years. " Eaves took over a one-win program with only four returning players and two scholarship players and turned it into a team consistently contending among the top teams in the MEAC. Over the last three seasons, his teams have finished above .500 in the conference. The Aggies' program has not had three straight winning seasons in the MEAC since they had three seasons above .500 since the early 90's. The Aggies constantly improved under Eaves. He won 15 games over the first three years of his tenure at A&T. In the last three seasons, the Aggies have won 46 games, becoming one of the most prolific 3-point shooting teams in the nation and have finished top four in the conference each of the last three seasons. Eaves' 15-win total in 2006-2007 was the program's best season in 10 years. He repeated that feat in 2007-08. A year ago, the Aggies reached the 16-win plateau. It was the most wins the Aggies have had since the 1993-94 team that won 16 games. Eaves has also established the Aggies return to respectability by having a player lead the league in scoring in Sean Booker, another player became one of the best 3-point shooters in the nation in Steven Rush, and he has recorded two of the biggest wins in program history when considering the opponents' RPI. His hard work in turning around the Aggies' program earned Eaves the 2008-09 National Association of Basketball Coaches District 15 Coach of the Year. He led the Aggies to a 16-16 mark overall and the Aggies 9-7 record earned them third place in the MEAC after being picked eighth in the preseason. He also led the Aggies to their longest winning streak in 18 seasons when the Aggies went 8-0 in the month of February. Eaves excels in bringing great talent to A&T by recruiting outstanding student-athletes who have excelled in the classroom and on the court like athletes Thomas Coleman, Steven Rush, Marc Hill and Austin Ewing. When Eaves arrived on A&T's campus, he brought with him a wealth of experience after numerous stints on both the collegiate and professional levels as an assistant. He rebuilt a program that started with him taking over a team that returned four players who had a combined average of 13.1 points per game from the previous season. The Aggies won just one game a year prior to Eaves taking the position. In year No. 1, he took those players, along with some late additions, and won three games. In season two, he showed more improvement by winning five home games and breaking a 32-game road losing streak. The following season, Eaves earned six wins before the 2006-2007, 15-17 campaign that included the upset win over Southern Methodist University and former Associated Press Coach of the Year Matt Doherty. Two years ago, Eaves defeated DePaul University on his way to a 15-16 overall mark and a 9-7 record in the conference. DePaul was the highest ranked RPI team the Aggies have ever defeated.
