I'm not going to even waste my time repeating what has been stated and observed over and over again. Good luck to Jerry Eaves and Wheeler Brown in building our basketball program.

www.news-record.com/content/2010/02/14/article/cold_shooting_haunts_at_in_loss_to_howardCold shooting haunts A&T in loss to HowardSunday, February 14, 2010 (Updated 3:00 am) Staff and Wire Reports WASHINGTON -- N.C. A&T, a team built around 3-point shooting, went 3-for-24 from beyond the arc Saturday in a 59-49 loss to Howard. "We can't hit a shot right now,'' A&T coach Jerry Eavessaid. "But I truly believe when the dike opens up, it's really going to open up." Added to a 7-for-32 performance in Monday's loss, A&T was 10-for-56 (17.9 percent) from 3-point range this week. "Right now we're in a scoring funk," Eaves said, "and it's grown to be a little larger than it needs to be." The Aggies trailed 17-11 with 7 minutes remaining in the first half. N.C. A&T went the next 4 minutes without a field goal and saw Howard's lead grow to 27-15. It would not be the only drought of the day. After trailing 32-21 at the half, the Aggies opened the second half with a layup from Dwane Joshua. The Aggies went the next 7 minutes without a field goal. Howard's lead ballooned to 46-23 before the Aggies were able to respond with a free throw.

i was at the game and the only thing worse than our 3 point shooting was our "defense". howard repeatedly got wide open looks at the basket. sitting with most of the aggies, you could just hear folks saying "wide open" over and over again. our men's basketball team is truly a sad situation. as someone stated previously, tears must be dropping from the championship banners that hang in corbett...

AGGIES STILL SEARCHING FOR SHOOTING TOUCH, LOSE IN DC
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The hope for the North Carolina A&T men’s basketball team is that there very well could be an opposite side of what it is going through right now.
The Aggies endured another rough shooting night as they shot just 33.3 percent from the floor in a 59-49 loss to Howard Saturday evening at Burr Gymnasium. Marc Hill was the only Aggie to reach double figures as he ended the night with 13 points. Thomas Coleman finished with seven points, 11 rebounds and a blocked shot.
“We can’t hit a shot right now,’’ said Jerry Eaves, who saw his team go 3-for-24 from 3-point range on Saturday and 7-for-32 last Monday. “But I truly believe when the dike opens up, it’s really going to open up. My men played well. They played great defense. We turned them over. We stole the ball. But right now we’re in a scoring funk, and it’s grown to be a little larger than it needs to be.
The Aggies trailed 17-11 with seven minutes remaining in the first half. N.C. A&T went the next four minutes without a field goal and saw Howard’s lead grow to 27-15. It would not be the only drought of the day.
After trailing 32-21 at the half, the Aggies opened the half with a layup from Dwane Joshua. The Aggies went the next seven minutes without a field goal. Howard’s lead ballooned to 46-23 before the Aggies were able to even respond with a free throw.
The Aggies spent the remainder of the second half trying to chip away at the Bison’s lead. They got the deficit down to 10 with 8 ½ minutes remaining on a Robert Johnson 3-pointer. But when the Aggies tried to get closer, Nic Simpson had a 3-pointer roll in and out, and Coleman and Joshua missed back-to-back layups.
Howard guard Calvin Thompson made it hurt even more when he knocked down a 3-pointer from the corner to give the Bison a 50-37 lead with 7:40 remaining. The Aggies were able to get it down to 10 again with 5 ½ minutes remaining, but two turnovers hampered their chances.
“With three minutes left to go, the home team had 55 points,’’ Eaves said about Howard. “Normally, that should give you more than enough of a chance to win. But until the ball starts going in the basket, we don’t have a chance to win.”
The Aggies dropped to 8-17 overall and 4-7 in the MEAC. Howard improved to 7-19 and 6-5 in the conference. Thompson led the Bison with 14 points, 12 rebounds and five assists. The Aggies will head to Hampton to play the Pirates Monday night at 8.
“The only thing I can tell the young men is to keep playing great defense,’’ said Eaves. “When we do start to make shots again – like we did early in the year – then we can make a run and win this thing (MEAC Tournament).”

Eaves is sounding like a real stubborn dude right about now.
When is he gonna realize that this system aint working.

Eaves simply has not grown as a coach, his recruiting abilities has but otherwise, he hasn't. Also, I see no evidence that it will grow this year.

Well at least Upchurch got back on the floor.
We were down by 23 and got it to 10 with def. and some inside play. But once we got the game within 10 we took a three on nearly every posotion even though it was still 8 minutes or so in the game. 3 0f 24 for three. I swear Eaves must feel the only way to win or score points is with a three.
The last game we won we were 8 of 14 behind the arc. That should tell the Coach something. The less threes we take the better chance we have to win.
And you know what ---- eventually we are gone have a big game behind the arc even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.

Period!!! He leaves, only if the AD is no longer at A&T, and I doubt if that will happen. I think that the university family like the AD. And the AD has a lot of confidence in Eaves' ability.

It seems like a lot of people on this board don't know that Brown is happy with Eaves.

Did he actually just say that? No words for this guy. If the only thing you believe in is the 3 point shot then.............oh f'it.

Sixities I agree.
The only difference maker would be if Chan. Martin has an opinion. And if the mens game turn into a ghost town; which attendance appears to be dropping every year.. It's ashame because I have been to games in Corbett when it was jammed packed.
