i just looked at our schedule and i can see our nonconference record being around 4-6 or 3-7 with losses probably to marist, new mexico, auburn, lsu, iowa state, and liberty. i'm looking for possible wins against yale/toledo, louisiana lafayette, univ. of missouri @ kansas city, and nccu. not counting wssu, but if so, that's 2 automatic wins. i think we may lose no more than 2 conference games. so my prediction is close to decks'. with 18 conference games (counting wssu) i predict our overall record will be in the 20-8 or 19-9 range, give or take a victory or two... dang! i came pretty close on my "preseason" predictions... ;D

This has now been the greatest season in A&T history. Guess that answers your question. Let me say this first. Please do not take this post the wrong way. I know that this is an extremely exciting time for many and I do not want to take away from that in any way. As it stands right now, I think last year was better than this year (wait a minute, hear me out). The ladies blitzed the MEAC regular season and dominated the tourney. Then, in a sign of the utmost respect, the selection committee gave them the highest seed the ladies have ever had in the most prestigious tourney (I admit, I'm a high standards kind of guy)! It was only because they we ran into a big conference power that we were tamed. Let's face it. If last year's team played in the WNIT, they would at least be final four! Now, with that being said, this postseason run has meant more to more people and I don't think it's close. Who cares that it's WNIT, they're playing in late March and that means something. Only the best teams do. If these ladies go down and beat Miami, I think the quoted statement above will hold true hands down. Right now for me, it's a little grey (when compared to last year only).

That's fair. But I am not sure last year's team was mentally ready to win in the post season.
I think this year's brutal schedule and adversity, coupled with our taste of the NCAA tournament last year, is what made this WNIT run possible.
Last year was a shock, but this year we actually came in and expected to compete against the Auburn and LSUs of the world. We were in the preseason WNIT so we had to have our gameface on from day 1.
Even though we beat ECU and Charlotte last year, our postseason experience in 2009 was uncharted waters. Not the case this year.

You have to remember that two years ago we were in the WNIT and got blasted by about 30 points at South Carolina
Now we have made it to the sweet sixteen of the WNIT and fought Miami tooth-n-nail in very competitive 7 point loss.
This is definitely a program on the rise.

Right now for me, it's a little grey (when compared to last year only). i think i'm gonna have to agree with aahhbigboy this time. i'm not so sure this has been our best season in history. it definitely has been our best "postseason" in history. but to me, you can't have your best season when you lose in the first round of the meac tournament. as great a feeling it is to beat wake and charlotte and nearly beat miami, i'd be willing to bet that coach bibbs and every lady on the team would have rather won the meac tournament championship and faced duke in durham instead. let's not forget that last year we played the acc's tournament "champion" to a 12 point game at the big dance. to me, that's very significant. and if you think we had a big crowd at wake and charlotte, imagine how many folks would have made the trip to durham! don't get me wrong, i cherish the fact that the wnit gave us an opportunity to wash that bitter taste of a first round tournament loss out of our mouths. and i'm not undermining the outstanding accomplishments of our wnit run. but i honestly had rather have that meac championship and a shot at duke than playing in the wnit. that being said, it may have benefited us more to have played in the wnit. but as a competitor, you want to be the champions of your league and compete in the big dance. i'm certain we could have done a better job than hampton did...

I emphatically disagree.
The confidence that this team gained by actually beating some of the top schools in the nation is immeasurable.
It is nice to dominant the MEAC and participate in the NCAA tournament, but losing by double digits to a first place ACC school is not the same as beating a 4th place ACC school by 24 points at their house.
Coach Bibbs and the Lady Aggies would not trade this experience for anything. It has been historic and may have a lasting effect on our entire athletics department.

I disagree also.
In terms of how it made Aggie faithful FEEL .... THIS was the greatest season BY FAR. In any sport actually. The closest might be the 1999 football team or the year the baseball team gave Clemson a fight. The season is really defined by what you do at the end of it.
Whether we want to admit it or not, HBCU Div I sports is continually in a fight for legitimacy. So when any team in any sport plays two ACC teams and an A-10 team in the post season, blasts one, beats one handily and fights tooth and nail with the third, it takes on a meaning greater than the act itself.
Last year's season, as good as it was, could not be greater under any circumstances. In this new frontier, the MEAC tournament championship is only an entry pass into the Big Dance now. It might sound wierd but I would almost rather blitz the regular season and go to the NIT again next year but go deeper. Then be ready to legitimately win in the NCAA in 2012 with a 12 seed or lower. The days of settling for a 15 or 16 seed are over.

There was nothing like the feeling of looking at the team like Miami and believing in your heart of hearts that you had a legitimate chance of beating them.
We gained so much national respect from this WNIT run. Every program in the ACC and the A-10 now knows that A&T is not to be taken lightly.

I'm with Thilla and Maxell. There's no way I trade the NIT run for a game with Duke. The tangible and intangibles benefits of the last three games are large and will pay dividends for years.

in hindsight, we can all agree on that. i'm just saying on face value, as a competitor, i'd prefer the big dance...

Man, we had strangers in Halton arena last weekend wishing they were Aggies. Young UNCC students were wishing they could transfer.
This WNIT run is the best thing that has happened to this school since the Woolworth sit-in.

It was a great run and I am so proud to be an Aggie. Do you think any of these teams will give us a game during the regular season?
