What MEAC team has had the best offensive line the last 4-to-8 years?
What are some of the big hurdles to having a consistently good offensive line?
What does Southern Conference and Colonial Athletic Association do to have consistently good offensive lines that the MEAC teams don't do?
What does A&T needs -or need to do- (beside get good players) to have a very good offensive line?

Typically the Southern Conference and Colonial league recruit a different type of lineman. i.e. a undersized lineman. 6 foot 3-4 and weight of 225-250. They bring them in and maybe it takes two years to have the kid gain 30 lb's the correct way.
In the past we go after the very strong 6 foot 1 280 - 315 kid.
In the long run the southern conference has a Div I type of o-lineman. That in two years has added the necessary weight and still has good speed to go out and pull.
Unfortuanely our 6 foot 1 o-lineman three years down the road is now 325 -335. Probably stronger than as a freshman but does not have the height or foot work to stand up a defensive lineman or effectively pass block aginst the top FCS teams. Bottom line you o-line should not mirror your d-line. 6 foot 1 and 300 may work well for the d-line but not for o-line.
In my opinion treat the o-line like you would a QB and develop the guy so that they are ready in two years. Bring in the 6 foot 3 lineman thats udersized and build him up.

That's exactly what happened to a family friend of ours. He was a 6'5" 230 lb TE coming out of high school and only played varsity his senior year. He went to a Div II PWC. They immediately switched him to OL, redshirted him and put him on a year round weight program. His r-Fresh and r-Soph year he was a backup. By his junior year he was starting at tackle and weighed around 275 solid muscle. He had a great senior year. His team went to Division II National Championship game and he was invited to camp by the Vikings.
He was at school five years and started his last two.

A couple of years ago I compared the overall size of MEAC teams vs those of the Southern Conference. MEAC teams had an average of 12 players over 300 lbs while SC schools had an average of 3.

Speaking of offensive lines, can anyone report on how our guys are looking thus far?
This has always been my major point of concern ever since last season ended.
I believe the Peeler Recreation Center team off Phillips Avenue had a better offensive line than we did in 2008. So far, it seems like we only brought in one JUCO transfer during the offseason to bolster this unit.
That might not be enough.
As much as I would love to see General Lee create a miraculous turnaround this year, it aint happening unless the O-line improves in a major way.

It's a lot better than you think. There are three "new but not so new kids" I'll mention specifically in my look at them in my capsule week after next.
