There's a lot of fifth year seniors on the team this year especially on defense.

I believe this program is a sleeping giant, a ticking time bomb. We are on the brink of returning to the days of Aggie Football glory. It's going to be fun watching this thing unfold. Aggie Fans.... Get you popcorn ready!

Get you popcorn ready! So why do u say this....I have seen nothing that would give me any high hope for the upcoming year....no OL, dismal QB play...lack of discipline are the characteristics of this FB team that come to mind as requiring vast improvement now. Has that changed

I personally am most skeptical about the O-line. That is the first thing we need to fix.

What happened to all the enthusiasm, optimism, and excitement about the possibilities of this team? Now you have me wondering whether I should order my supply of valium and nitroglycerin for the season. What about all of those glowing reports from the spring game about the players and the coaching staff??? There were witnesses. I realize that it was a practice game, but it seems to me that there had to be some improvement on the OL, DL, LBs and skill positions simply because of preparation, experience and maturation. What about the implementation of the new system??? Didn't that somewhat improve the offense???

I wasn't at the game on Saturday, so I couldn't tell you. I just know how the offensive line performed in 2008.

I believe this program is a sleeping giant, a ticking time bomb. We are on the brink of returning to the days of Aggie Football glory. It's going to be fun watching this thing unfold. Aggie Fans.... Get you popcorn ready! So why do u say this....I have seen nothing that would give me any high hope for the upcoming year....no OL, dismal QB play...lack of discipline are the characteristics of this FB team that come to mind as requiring vast improvement now. Has that changed First and foremost it starts with Lee. His influence has already had a tremendous affect. The team has had a good spring in the weight room and on the field. It's too early to tell how well they have done in the classroom, but I would like to think that the guys are more focused now that they are under new leadership. you're right the team did lack discipline. The good thing is that discipline is an area that Lee tends to concentrate on. Now that he is the head coach I'm sure he will put a major emphasis on that area. Offensively, we are already much improved. The offense isn't very complex. It allows for the coaching staff to create the mis matches on the field.(something the I believe Coach Berry is one of the best at on our level) With a strong summer, the addition of a few impact players and a good camp, the Blue Machine should be in good shape come September. The OL is steadily improving. As far as the QB issue goes....We have some talent. It just a matter of getting the most out of the kids. I think the guys already here on campus are comfortable with the scheme. My hope is that the incoming freshman QB's will be as good if not better than advertised. you just never know until they strap up...I'm very excited about the urgency on the defensive side of the ball. Blue Death will get back to causing havoc through applying pressure and getting to the football. Lee will make adjustments to fit his personnel. I don't know how he plans to use his new recruits on defense, but I do know that the 11 guys that he decides to put on the Field will be well prepared and ready to go. Expect Blue Death to be Bigger, Faster and Stronger. I thought we did some pretty good things on Special teams last season but I'm expecting some improvement now that Easy E has someone working with him on his place kicking. Overall the morality of the team is up. Player are now holding each other more accountable. Throw in the recent excitement and support for the team(Thanks to Thrilla and BDF) and that gives me something to smile about. I can't wait for August!

my bad. I was typing to fast. I gave Eric Houston a nickname his Freshman year. Eric" Easy E" Houston I gave him that name after I witnessed him effortlessly kick extra points at practice...

Easy E is a good one. We'll make that his official nickname.

before lee took over, my biggest conern was player retention. but as far as i can tell, we've been able to retain our key players and that's very important. and even though we had a few lopsided losses last year, i don't think it was because we lacked talent. i think it had more to do with guys giving up on the coach, especially against morgan.
though our o-line concerns me, i don't think we have a major talent gap to fill. imo, i think our talent level is currently in the middle of the pack when you include this year's recruiting class. if we can get our offense going, i think we'll have a legitimate chance to beat any team on our schedule this year except maybe the top teams (scsu, famu, and "maybe" hampton). other than that, i think we should be in all of our games. and because of our last two losses to central, i'm almost willing to "guarantee" we'll beat central at home this year (of course, barring major game changing injuries).
say what you want about fobbs but i don't think he left us an empty cup. assuming we've retained our key players, i don't see '09 as a "rebuilding" year. i see it as a "building" year. meaning, we should be better than last year and we should definitely win more than 3 games. i expect us to "tinker" with a .500 season this year, going 5-6 or 6-5. if we don't win at least 4 games, lee's head coaching ability will come into question in my opinion.
my expectations are that we should turn the corner next year (in 2010). by then, lee's first recruiting class should be ready to make major contributions and our o-line issues should be completely behind us...
