I made a statement in an earlier post that I would have worn body paint to the Lady Aggies NCAA game if I was still in school. I think I managed to somehow take it a step further. Upon my arrival to the arena, I was informed by the cheerleading coach that the student who usually suits up in the "Aggie Dog" did not make the trip to Atlanta. As I sat in my seat, the blue Aggie blood in my veins began to boil. I started to think about all the little kids who come to the games just to see the Aggie. I thought about all the fans who would be watching the game on TV and wonder....."Hey...where is the Aggie Dog?" Then I thought about FSU's fancy little Seminole dancing around the court taunting our players while the fans did the "chant and chop" For a short time it seemed as if the A&T would not have a mascot on the floor for a nationally televised tourney game. All of a sudden it was like a bomb went off inside me. It was at the moment that I realized what I must do. With no hesitation whatsoever, I got up out of my seat, headed to the locker room, threw on the Aggie Dog and took my seat along side the cheerleaders. After about 3 Minutes I realized how tough this game was going to be. I was already beginning to sweat like....well(see Thrilla). Although I had a great seat, I could barley see out the dayum dog head (the left eye is cockeyed). I think I sprained a muscle in my arm from doing one-arm Aggie push ups. I had a knot on my head from the makeshift padding (or lack there of) from the bike helmet inside the dog head, but it was all worth it. Suiting up kind of took me back to my playing days. The costume smells like the football locker room, and my body was sore. Good thing I have paid enough attention to the cheerleaders to know a few of the cheers.lol I did a pretty nice job of keeping my cool although the pep band had me dancing on a few occasions. A couple of bad calls had man fussin at the refs but other than that, I was cool. The best part of it all was going up to Thrilla and shaking his hand without him even knowing I was a fellow BDV member. He looked a bit annoyed so I figure that means I did a good job. Turns out that the FSU Seminole didn't show either. (probably went to the FSU mens game the day before) At the end of the game I got in line and shook hands with the Noles. The loss hurt but I felt more for the girls. I was extremely proud of the teams and the effort but most of all I was proud that AGGIE PRIDE didn't die. And it never will....... Not on my watch!

Classic. I was wondering why the mascot kept coming up to me while I was trying to watch the game.
You had me fooled. LOL

Good Stuff! I ran into the guy who normally suits up that Friday and he told me wasn't going (running for Mr. A&T), but that it was being taken care of. Obviously it wasn't so I'm glad that you let that blue blood take over your body and mind, taking the beatings that come with being a mascot! You were quite the entertainer!

Born5, thats how you "cover down"!!! It's funny how this works. When you get in a joint & and look around, you realize that We are all We have. Then you say f&@k it! Lets make this ours! I went to that game determined to push this team , the cheerleaders & the band to the end. I was first glad to see the Aggie gold. ( you shake a hand & make a friend). Then the players ran on the court & warmed up. ( I said oh s&*t) The B&GMM walked in...and then the cheerleaders walked in and I yelled " the champs are here!. And then the Aggie Dog!!! Man that was all I needed. The family was together.
Yo, thats the Aggie way. We owe you one for that!

It's hard to see those lil' kids in that thing...My personal fave was the diehard aggie fans that wanted their lil' children to take a picture with the dawg, but the kids are absolutely petrified...lol ;D
