MEAC to Host National Anthem and Halftime Auditions
for Annual Basketball Tournament
MEAC and Entercom Communications Greensboro Partner Together to Host MEAC’s Got Talent
Virginia Beach, Va., January 27, 2009 - Auditions for national anthem and halftime performers for the 2009 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Basketball Tournament will be held Saturday, January 31 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
The MEAC Basketball Tournament tips off in its new home venue March 10-14 at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum (LJVM) in Winston-Salem.
The inaugural MEAC’s Got Talent event, sponsored by the MEAC and Entercom Communications of Greensboro, offers entertainers, singer/choirs and musicians, of all ages and backgrounds, an opportunity to showcase their talents during the annual Division I basketball tournament.
Auditions for national anthem performers runs from 9-11 a.m. Halftime performers are slated to audition from 1-3 p.m. All performers will have up to two minutes to present their acts in front of a panel of judges. Interested applicants should possess a positive attitude, creative technique and style and display a high level of showmanship and energy. Pre-registration applications can be found on www.MEACsports.com.
Auditions are free and open to the general public. Space is limited and applicants are encouraged to be on time and prepared to perform at the time of arrival.

The MEAC Basketball Tournament is a single elimination championship playoff that involves 11 Division I historically black colleges and universities located across the Atlantic coastline: Bethune-Cookman, Coppin State, Delaware State, Florida A&M, Hampton, Howard, Maryland Eastern Shore, Morgan State, Norfolk State, North Carolina A&T State, and South Carolina State. A bonus game including the North Carolina Central and Winston-Salem State men’s basketball teams will also highlight Championship Saturday.
The tournament is played at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum (LJVM) in Winston-Salem North Carolina. Both the men’s and women’s tournament champion receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
