Like you said Thrilla, makes too much sense for it to happen. They could've done that a week ago with the press conference to come at a later date, just to let folks know for sure what was going on. It's not like everyone didn't already know anyway.

60 & thrill, Because probably the "coach" is not in town. He and part of his staff are moving and how can the admin look good if they do an announcement without the "new" coach in attendance. Remember don't do what is right , do what will get us the most recognition. Recruiting weekend will do OK with Rags .Odoms, and Oliver and mwe'll announce when "our" time is right!!!

Wart, I was kind of thinking that too.
If the BOT has to rush and hold an emergency meeting at 5 PM today (thank God for that N&R article), how would that give Lee enough time to arrive in Greensboro for a 12 PM press conference on Friday? I mean, yeah, it could be done but that is a lot to ask from your new coach.
However, if this is a "big recruiting weekend" Lee probably had planned on being in town already.
Hell, I don't know. It hurts my brain to try to make sense out of all this craziness.

Wart, I didn't say the coach would not be in town. I merely suggested that he could be publicly announced through a press release and the press conference postponed until a more convenient time. The name of the coach has already been announced in the paper. We have not asked the paper to retract the story. In fact comments were made by the AD indicating the name of the coach. The chancellor was on campus and working before many people knew about him. His big public coming out party was almost a year later. I personally believe that for the recruits, they need to see the face of the coach or know that he is indeed in place. If they are not from Greensboro, they won't see the press conference anyway. The university should want to project an image of confidence and stability (to the recruits) in the program.
We can discuss this issue all day, but once again we have allowed the media to project us in a negative way (today's article) to the public at large. That is the most disturbing thing to me.The university is much more than coaches and recruits. Reputation and integrity are the cornerstones of great institutions. Missteps are not acceptable.

I'm sorry to announece THAT other spots in the state have internet. I agree we need the new HC but for the people in charge a PHOTO op is the most important possibility. LLEH, let's admit that they are more interested in apperences than any-thing. I have said before the CART tends to be leading the HORSE!!!!

We are being jerked around by both A&T administration and the N&R. Both are giving out half or not the full truths in this matter of hiring a head football coach.
There seems to be two main reasons for the delay. Hint: neither is due to the AD. While one can be found in Greensboro the other is angrily pacing back and forth in a hive outside of Greensboro.

The New & Record wins again ....
Robert Bell made one phone call yesterday that not only forced A&T to hold a emergency board of trustees meeting, but it also forced A&T to rush and throw together a press conference.
Maybe he should work at our university. He seems to be one of the few people around here who can make things happen.

The same source says this press conference date has been in place... just waiting for all the pieces to come together (i.e. BOT approval).

Sure.
That's why the first time anybody even heard about the press conference was when you just posted the announcement on this thread.

Common sense man. It's called pre-planning. But you can't put something out there without knowing for sure it's going to fall in place when you want it to... Like you said, the hold-up wasn't WB's fault. Even if the BOT had cleared everything earlier this week, the press conference still probably have been until tomorrow... which would be a great tactic on WB's part to do it right before Saturday.

Why does the BOT have to review personnel contracts? If we did that where I work nothing would ever get done. HR, Legal and a VP (Vice Chancellor) should be all that is needed.
