Looking forward to the artist's drawings. Appears it will wrap around most of the home seating section.

I understand that Renick is now prepared to invest those added dollars under the new regime.
My sources also tell me Fobbs first in-state recruiting efforts are looking better this year than they have in four years with the new coaching change, especially in and around the Piedmont and Charlotte areas.
He is slated to annouce his entire staff late next week but they are now on the road recruiting full time.

This is good news guys! It appears that Renick is serious about taking our program to the next level! The press box has been inadequate for a long time! The news about Fobbs recruiting in-state is promising also. I know it's b-ball season, but I can't wait for Fobbs to announce his staff! Thanks for the info Aggie One!

2500 sf doesn't sound real big. How big is it right now?

2500 sf doesn't sound real big. 2500 sf is big. If it was 12 ft deep, It would be over 200 ft (67 yds) long. The current box looks to be about 400 sf. so the new box would be about six times bigger.

Sounds good to me. Bringing in more players from Charlotte sounds good to me. One quesiton though...Closing date January 25, 2006, does that mean they gonna be working on it during the season so its gonna be construction in the way during home games and stuff???

That date signifies the end of bids. Normally it takes 30 - 45 days to award a contract. After awarding, the contract usually has a period of performance. I suspect the period of performance to end around 15 Aug for construction. From that point, it's just a matter of ensuring the pressbox functions as advertised....

I may be wrong, but that solicitation is for architectural services, to me that means design not construction. However, a million - five seems like a lot for a 2500sqft design project.

1.5 million is our construction budget. This is given to give the architect an idea of what we can and cannot afford to do. 2500 +/- sf will be nice for our stadium. I would say of dimension of 20' x 125' or even 25' x 100', especially if an elevator is required and if the suites have a wetbar. At 125' the box would have a width of 41yds. Now if this budget allows for brick constuction it will be very nice.

What does the architectural design part of the project generally cost?

The architectural services is usually 8 - 12% of total cost. Based on this advertisement, I expect the construction to begin after the 2006 season and complete for the 2007 season.

Based on the upgraded pressbox schematic at fac.ncat.edu/engineer/Files/press%20box%20schematic.pdf and the proposed area of 2500 sq ft, the main (front) section will be about 145’ long x 15’ deep. The little section in the back with the elevator will be about 39’ x 9’. These are just rough estimates based on ratios. I’m glad the design will not be a simple box. I wonder how this compares to the length of the current press-box and also the middle section Aggie Stadium.
