Quay, You didnt have to LAY OUT the kicker like that after that bobbled snap. The other dude had the ball, and you went straight for the kicker! LOL!!!!!! That poor dude will remember that hit for the rest of his career. The look on his face was pure comedy.

I think that's why the kicker told his coach to go for two after Howard's last touchdown. He didn't want to take a chance of Quay hitting him again. LOL

Thats actually HORRIBLE tackling technique and that young man could get SERIOUSLY hurt leading with his helmet like that. The coaches need to work with him before (God forbid) he finds himself on a stretcher somewhere...

You can't really tell from that angle. It's NOT horrible because the very TOP of his helmet is not contacting the player. That could be dangerous. Depending on how much of his facemask and forehead is in contact, he looks to be alright. Looks like an OK hit to me using his forehead and open hands, legs apart.

Maybe the photo IS deceiving...but from the angle that I see, it does look like the top of his helmet...and the only thing textbook about that is that it could lead to at the very least...a stinger...and at it's very worst...a serious spinal injury. Football at this level is indeed a game for grown men and is played fast and furious. The wrong technique can be the difference in getting up for your next play or never getting up again at all.

When I said "textbook" I was talking about the pass breakup in the first 2 pictures.
It does look like he might be leading with his head in the next set of pics. Maybe that is something that can be addressed in practice...

If you take a picture of any straight-on tackle at the point of contact it will probably look like that. I don't think there is any way you can tell if he led with his head unless you see a still frame of him right before the blow was delivered.

It does matter how a young man "hits" someone on a football field. Technique makes all the difference in the world and can be the difference in how well the team performs and more importantly...the safety of the young men playing the game.

crown of the helmet is where you want it to be... face mask in the chest... looks like a textbook tackle... one meant to decleat...
