Maybe so. it looks like he's getting props for his work at A&M and Alabama from fans. No one said, "Good riddance". That's a good thing.

The quotes do make me feel a little better. I just wish that he didn't have to serve as his own oc.

Money is an issue. An amazing fact is that Texas A&M's assistant coaches salary pool is $1.6 million for 13 assistants. Our assistant coaches salary pool may be $250,000, if that.

I think his reputation speaks volume. But the verdict is still out can he be a excellent Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator

Youd think the verdict and sentence is already in the way most of these cats have passed judgement (in an area that they also have no professional experience in)....

antfan, Stop whining and enjoy the banter. That's what makes fan forums fun. If you don't want to have lively, spirited discussion then take your 10 posts and go somewhere else. Otherwise, answer this. What do you think his record be in 2006?
I think he'll be 7-4 easily maybe even 8-3 and that's based on what I know now (which is nothing).
The rules are the same....he must beat Winston by at least 3-4 touchdowns out of the gate. That will be the acid test for the rest of the season.

Paying people is not going to be the issue. Renick pretty much put that to rest with the substantial contract he gave Coach Fobbs. Obviously there are some sizable resources being made available to revitalize the program that no one on this broad are privy to.
I choose to reserve any comments on assistants until he hires his staff in the next couple of weeks and I'll then have a chance to look into their coaching history and research reviews of their capabilities from their peer group.

I'm talking about the salary POOL for all assistants not just coordinators.

Maxell...banter and spirited discussions are OK, but at some point we must cut the crap and show some support. The decision(s) have been made, and we must live with them for now. We all will know the deal when the season gets under way next Fall.
NOW...how about out basketball team. I think we'll surprise a few folks this year...don't you?

No need to change the subject if people wish to continue to discuss the new football hire. If no one else chooses to talk about fobbs and todd, the discussion will die down. Nobody tol anti-war protesters to stop discussin the Iraq invasion when no amount dissent would change president dumbass's decision, what's da big deal about this topic? Why do some feel the need to cut off debate? I know no amount of moaning I do will change things, but the discussion is still ongoing about the hire. No need to stop questioning the decision.
There's a b-ball thread on the site; go there.
