Why in the hell did she give all that money to Fobbs and not have enough money to get any decent assistants? Cobb said that an agreement is in place for Jerry Moore to continue as Appalachian's coach for at least three more years. Moore has been offered a three-year contract with a salary averaging $125,000 a year. Cobb said that the Mountaineers' coaching staff also received salary increases.
"The goal was to get the entire staff in the top third (in terms of salary) in the Southern Conference, and we've done that," Cobb said.
Moore is entering his 18th season at ASU. He has a record of 140-67 with the Mountaineers and more victories than any other coach in SoCon history. In 24 seasons overall, Moore's record is 167-115-2.www.journalnow.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=WSJ%2FMGArticle%2FWSJ_BasicArticle&c=MGArticle&cid=1149190292724&path=!sports&s=1037645509200

Insult to injury: I think Moore is his own OC too.
But I think what is apparent is that she wanted Fobbs very, very badly.

How do you know the amount Fobbs was given to hire his staff?
Do you what each of our assistants are currently making?

That is a good question. I know Berry was making around 60 grand for coaching the o-line. I don't know what he makes at Morgan and I don't know if he got a bump when School got canned.

BT, Do you think our assistant coaches salaries are the same as an average SOCO or even MEAC coaching staff? And if so, why are we hiring people from junior/ccommunity colleges with little experience?
If Fobbs is making these hires and has the money to get better coaches, then he definitely needs to be out of here!

Both Berry and Lee made between $65,000 and $75,000 while at A&T. The salaries were published but I can't remember if it was $75,000 or $65,000. Both Berry and Lee took a huge paycut to coach at Morgan State. Lee told my friend he took more than a $20,000 paycut working at Morgan State versus A&T. Small salary was $105,000 with incentives.

Let's put it all out there.
Who interviewed?
I know for a fact that Kenny Phillips interviewed and I have heard from three different sources that he somehow "blew" his interview. I assume that since three people said it he must have done a terrible job.
We know for a fact that Renick wanted to go after Doug William and we know for a fact that Fobbs was interviewed because we didn't have over 200 grand to give DUHg but he wanted to help his boy so he pretended that he was looking out for Dee's best interest when he suggested Lee.
I know that Charlie Coe of Alabama State was interviewed and suggested by everyone in the athletic department. Over loud objections, Dee chose Fobbs.
It's clear Todd was enamoured by Fobbs. We can assume that once he showed her his salary she called around trying to figure out how to justify paying him more. That's how she came up with this crazy idea to collapse positions and overburden the man.
I don't know who else was interviewed and who else applied. I don't know how Fobbs chose his assistants. I do note that two of them (o-line coach Kenneth Ray and defensive coordinator Demetrius Adams) played together at Southern Miss. The black boy network at work.
Fobbs ran off the strength and conditioning coach that Todd raved about. We're now on our third or fourth one since he hit town. He's kept Oliver, who may or may not be a good coach or respected by the team. Sulkowski ran. He ran off Stewart who was the best resource he had. He hired that coon whatshisface to be his d-coordinator despite the well-known fact that the man has pissed off people and left everywhere he's been. Call him the defensive Schoolfield.
To me it appears both Dee and Lee ain't the greatest at weighing variables when it comes to hiring.
