Greensboro, NC - Many of the state's best football seniors are to play in the 60th football all-star game in Greensboro on July 23 (8 p.m. kickoff).
AP All-State selection Terry Vaughan, a defensive tackle of New Bern High School, is expected to play for the East team. Terry Vaugh of New Bern is going to JC. I hope we put our name in the hat for him once he completes his first year or two.

Terry Vaugh of New Bern is going to JC. I hope we put our name in the hat for him once he completes his first year or two. i agree. that's my homeboy and i often wonder why fobbs hasn't recruited anyone from new bern. after all, new bern is a perennial high school football power that defeated independence last year in the title game and is now the defending 4-AA state champions. with greenville rose, another powerhouse, only a half hour away from new bern, i would think eastern north carolina would be a priority for recruiting...

You're from New Bern? I'm from Kinston, state 3A basketball champs. Looks like Down East rules this year.

decks, yeah i'm from new bern and so is the aggie softball coach mamie jones. i knew her well growing up in new bern. k-town use to be our arch rivals in basketball.
and thrilla, call us hick towns if you like but the hick towns ruled the entire state this year. seriously though, there's a lot of talent in the east. both eaves and fobbs would get bang for their bucks by recruiting eastern north carolina. fobbs has a couple, but he could easily find a lot more. new bern would have won the 4-AA state championship 3 out of the last 5 years had it not been for the "no boundaries" come one come all charlotte independence high school…

Not quite so fast boss. Ask any recruiting expert, Terry Davis is a consensus as one of the top five defensive utility lineman in the state, able to play anywhere for anyone up front for a D-1 program.
Bunn, N. C. isn't exactly a metropolis on any one's map but a kid with good grades that benches 400 plus, runs a 4.9 at 6-2, 275, a three time all Regional pick and has a warrior mentaltiy is not someone you pass over.
I have always liked smaller communities as very fertile recruiting grounds for 1-AA schools.

I wonder why their are no players from Dudley or Western Alamance on the west roster. There were a lot of talented players on both of those champianship teams. How are these east-west players selected anyway?

I'm not sure but I believe some of these players decide not to play because of the possibility of injury
