I agree with the o-line & qb statement-- some changes were made to the line & also keep in mind that these guys are learning a new offense for the third time in 3 years, i'm not not trying to make excuses for them ahead of time but thats a tall order to ask of anyone, even a pro. the first unit will gel together ok, but we still lack depth and playing time from the backups.

I guess this will be the new excuse if the team goes 0-12 or 1-11 next season?

the comment was not meant to be taken as the new excuse or any kind of excuse for that matter. I was was just making a very honest & truthful statement, not to be taken anyother way but the way it was written. the TRUTH is the o-line is learning a new offense for the third time in 3 years & to be HONEST with you i feel thats a tall order for for anyone. there is no excuse if this team does not win SOME games, i haven't setteled on a # yet maybe 6-8 but it will need to be SOME games. I came aboard in the middle of this mess, but in doing so i was and still is able to see this from a totally different view. my statement from the past still stands, THIS PROGRAM WAS HEADED TO THE FIRERY PIT WITH GASOLINE DRAWERS ON AT LEAST 6 YEARS AGO. with that being said i intend to show up at every game, blow my air horn & ring my cow bell while people look at me like i'm crazy.

What's your take on the competition for starting spots on the OL, DL and QB?

That cow bell idea is hot. I might have to pick up one myself.

aggiedaddyofbige74, if all of us had your confidence and faith, we could go no where but up. The thing is that so many of us have doubt, which is killing us. As far as the coach is concerned, I don't have a lot of faith and confidence in him alone. But he has added 2 dynamic pieces to the puzzle which makes me feel a whole lot better this year!

this is my take on the team up to this point after the spring game. QBs- I personally like morgan based only on what i saw of him last year. miller will get the nod at #1 unless him competley blows it at camp, this is supposed to be his team and the coaches will allow him to try and lead them. BUT!!!! look for the coaches to show no patience with the type of play he displayed at times last season. if this happens, the coaches will go with fears and not look back, win lose or draw. if fears went down, look for morgan. miller does'nt need to worry about looking over his shoulder but he really needs to understand whats at stake. The d-line looks more mobile to the ball and are making more first contact tackles. this should free the linebackers for more blitzes and pass coverage help. I truly feel that over the next 2 years this group of backers lead by thornton could develope into 1 of, if not the best corps in black college football. GOD HELP US ALL IF THE DBs PLAY LIKE THEY DID YEAR, teams are going to try and throw it 30 times a games. The o-line is where my eyes are always focused. this is where the qb gets protected, holes opened, and games always won or lost. I see the missed or great blocks or the pancakes that no one else even pays attention to. only 7 linemen dressed for service last year, carter went down with injury, and if i'm not mistaken valmont only saw the field at the end of the scst game, that left bess, williams, sagote, wiley & cohen to play entire games with no backups( even the nfl has backups), also alex harper and adrian carter were props so we don't know what they can do or where they will fit in to help us. i don't know much about hamler but think he has been working out with the team. hopefully some kind of help in on the way with the incoming class but thats a wait & see mold. gone are sagote & williams,so this is how i see things @ 99.99% shaking out. chad wiley LT, jonathan carter LG, tim bess RG, enoch cohen C, we are missing a RT but hopefully someone is hungry enough to step up. I understand some of you don't want to see certian players on the field, but given what we have right now(not the incoming class) but what we have right now, what would you do or who would you play & where would you play them. These are my honest thoughs on the team, nothing more nothing less

We got some incoming linemen who could see time depending on how their Spring and summer workouts go. Kid from Roxboro is a stud, so hopefully he's been staying in the weight room and working on footwork. He also needs to get his own weight down listed at 330lbs. he cant play many downs at that weight.

Valmont will start at one guard, count on that. If we can'f find anyone to replace Wiley, better keep a stretcher handy for whichever QB we put in there.
