There is so much talked about increasing the athletic department and raising money for A&T's general fund that I wonder if there is an extensive study on how much wealth A&T's alumni have? It would be very interesting and very useful to this university to know what the wealth, average, median and aggregate, of the majority of the alumni.
With the increased value of real estate and the abundance of 401K, I wonder what percentage of the wealth is in liquid assets which leads to disposable cash.

Just to venture a guess, I would say an average household income of about $65K a year.

It would be interesting but ... The issue has nothing to do with how much disposable income is out there. The issue is motivating friends and alumni to contribute. Making it important and marketing it to each and every family. Hell, send us a letter every month that keeps it in the frontal lobe.
By my feeble calculations and Thrilla's number, there is well over $30 million per year in disposable income available (using 2% of 25,000 people @ $65,000)
If the Athletic department spent $50,000/yr mailing information and appeal letters every four to six weeks to all alumni and friends, I almost guarantee they would get at least $2,000,000 in contributions. We have over 25,000 Aggie households out there. You have got to hit people often just to get their attention. The first letter or two folk will read and say "oh, that's nice." By the second or third letter you begin to understand the importance. You have to spend money to get money.
It was a personal appeal from Coach Small(along with winning) that got me off the dime. It works.
THE most improtant thing to do is to WIN on the field/court. People respond to winning. Fobbs will get what he needs when he gets WINS. He knows that.

I had an idea that I tossed to the poster formerly known as thrilla. I called it "one in a million." I figured if you got about 10,000 of the people that attend homecoming to take 100 bucks each out of their liquor money and give it to the football program, you've got a million bucks in one afternoon.
Of course 10,000 of the people that attend homecoming ain't gonna give 100 bucks. But you can get any jackass to come off a fiver. And there'll be a few hundred that will come off well over a grand. Give automatic membership in the Aggie Club to anybody that gives over a certain amount and membership goes through the roof.
We got a t.v. already. Just make the announcement throughout the game and have a way to collect the money that won't be compromised.
Ask and ye shall receive.
