Well...
It was 2-1 Aggies in the bottom of the 7th. Our starter was still out there, despite throwing a lot of pitches and losing velocity. Gave up base hits & Coach went to the bullpen with runners on 1st & 2nd.
Enter Connor Blantz. Two pitches later, the Hofstra batter mashed a 3-run home run to put Hofstra ahead 5-2. Blantz then gave up 2 more base hits and Hall went to the bullpen again.
Now lefty Stirling Thomas is in & Hofstra is still at bat.
Hofstra's announcers just clowned our pitchers, saying "they're getting lit up."
Tell us something that we don't know & endure every game.
Do our coaches have passports? Dominican Republic, Venezuela, & Panama are beautiful this time of year. Lots of pitching help down there!

That is a killer. Are we making poor choices with who we bring in from the bullpen or are all of these guys just ineffective?

Ball game.
Hofstra 5 Aggies 3
Hofstra moves 1 game ahead of us for that coveted 6th spot in conference play & a berth in the conference tournament.
Our pitching, or our lack of it from the bullpen, did it to us again. At this point, it's kind of humorous. It's like "let's see how many base hits, home runs, & runs we will give up today."
Again...WE WERE WINNING 2-1 in the bottom of the 7th, a time when the manager turns the game over to the set up man who'll go the 7th & 8th who then yields to the closer who shuts the door in the 9th.
That happens in the major/mid major D1 PWI programs & for Bethune-Cookman & Alabama State among HBCU's.
This was another painful & unnecessary & avoidable loss. Our pitchers HAVE TO BE TIRED of being the laughingstock of the CAA. I know that I am.

A&T-Drax, now is not the time for us to help you comprehend basic colloquialisms. We are having a serious discussion about our pitching woes.

We MUST bounce back tomorrow & win the series. Outside of winning each of the remaining series, we need to start the "wait til next year" chants.
I'm also intrigued by Dalton, Logan, & AJ Jones' ABSENCE from the lineup here lately. All were starters who are now enjoying the game next to coach Hall.
I pray he signs 10 pitchers, a slugger 1st baseman to replace Negishi, a slugger catcher to replace Brown, who I believe will be a draft & sign, & some slugger outfielders to replace Jackson, Logan, Ash, and Dalton. We DO NOT NEED anymore infielders, nor do we need those 82mph fastball max mph they like to promote on Twitter talking about "We just locked in a BIG arm" when in reality, it's a dude from Atlanta whose fastball sits at 83.
That's why we're on the outside looking in. Again.

I'm curious to see when the seat will officially get hot for Coach Hall if we finish near the bottom of the CAA standings again.
The dismal state of War Memorial Stadium has been his get-out-of-jail-free card over the past few years, but if that place actually gets a makeover this summer I am sure expectations will also increase.
At some point we've got to get over the hump. Maybe the worst thing that could have happened to this program was getting off to a fast start this year and actually giving A&T fans some hope.

I think that it could have been the best thing..i.e giving A&T fans hope . Because now they know that baseball can be entertaining and exciting when you're winning that is. We know we have the bats and the gloves. I'll focus should be on pitching in the next recruiting cycle.

No matter the sport in the CAA, Coaches aren't usually placed on short leashes. And with his early season success, I just don't see any reason for Coach Hall's seat to get hot especially we he just received funding for a full-time assistant. If anything, Coach Hall needs his recruiting budget increased so he can go out and recruit some Prop 48 pitchers from the DR. No matter who the coach is, being an HBCU is a hurdle that is only really overcame in baseball recruiting by spending. it does cost money to go out to these Jucos in the Midwest, Texas, and West Coast when we're also trying to increase spending in other sports AND we aren't increasing our Student Athletics Fee anytime soon. So be careful what you're asking for. I'm hoping for an invite to the HBCU Baseball World Series. We get that, we can say this season was a success.

We have 3-4 kids coming in the summer that throw 90+ in 2 years we will be more successful
This is not instant gratification, it is a process
Baseball alums need to increase NIL donations

Everyone wants the program to be successful, but consecutive bottom-3 finishes will not instill a lot of optimism within our fanbase. Like I always state, the other schools in the CAA are not going to stand pat and just let A&T catch up. We have to do something dramatic or revolutionary to begin to close that gap. Hopefully, renovating our stadium will be a major first step.
