Their daddies can't bring themselves to tell jim bob, ed earl, and tucker abner that the boy he's been bragging on since he was 5 is going to "a black school" & would rather walk-on at ECU, Wingate, Campbell, ECU, & lenoir-rhyne. We need some legit pitchers NOW. I agree with everything you said, but sidebar: if your parents/coaches tell you to walk-on at D2 Lenoir Rhyne & Wingate over a scholly offer at a D1 program, they hate you đđ

Texas, California, Florida, Louisiana, Kansas especially the juico's in Kansas Texas, any of the Latin American countries. When I was still coaching I placed a number of white athletes at hbcus . Stop making excuses any baseball coach worth their salt knows where to go to find the talent that he is looking for. Anything others is just a excuse. Because on the recruiting Trail 99.9 of the parents just want their kids to get a quality education and not have to pay. Trust me you have just as many black parents doing the exact same thing you stated above as white parents are. Please stop making excuses. We have the bats we have the gloves now we have to recruit the pitchers. It's that simple.

this is why i'm always very reluctant to falling for the "hype" early in the season in "any sport" cuz i outright hate being "disappointed". so when we have early season success, i try not to raise my "expectations". i rather take each game one at a time before i jump to conclusions that one of our teams are as good as the "hype" from early season success.
if we ever get memorial stadium spruced up to become a decent baseball venue relative to our competition, i think aggie baseball will be okay...

I donât understand how your message correlates. I said I agreed with everything in the message that I quoted otherwise

AggieGrad97: THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENS!
You can probably tell that I have playing and coaching experience, and when I became a high school principal, I did some informal recruiting for Keith Shumate when he was coach, then Joel Sanchez. When Ben Hall came, I was in district admin as a director and Asst. Superintendent, and now I'm a superintendent and STILL do some informal "recruiting" for Ben Hall. ANYTIME I see a kid who has the ability to play D1 ball, I will capture video on my cell or IPad and send to Coach Hall, Coach McCummings, and when he was there, Coach Serber (now at Elon).
Now...
Unbelievably and incredibly, nearly 90 percent of non-black ballplayers, well, maybe I should say their parents, IMMEDIATELY dismissed A&T ONCE they learned that we are a "black school!" AND YES...I had white players whose parents would take a walk-on OR a reduced percentage scholarship to:
1) Mt. Olive, which is a D2 POWER 2) UNC-Pembroke, which is a D2 POWER 3) Barton 4) NC Wesleyan-D3!!! 5) UNC-Wilmington 6) Lenoir-Rhyne 7) Wingate
I would go blue in the face explaining to parents about the value of playing D1 baseball AND, most importantly, GETTING A QUALITY EDUCATION from the premier HBCU and, quite frankly, a top university in North Carolina, but some could not get past "The Black School" thing.
I used to get ANGRY when I'd listen to those daddies brag about how River showed out at UNC/NCSU/Duke/ECU's camp. Then I went there...I broke them/it down for them with FACTS that you can check for yourself. Ready? Here we go!!!
THE BIG BOYS, meaning Campbell, Charlotte, High Point, Wake Forest, Elon, UNC, NCSU, Duke, Davidson & EVEN UNC-G cast a VERY WIDE NET and typically sign MORE OUT OF STATE talent than in-state! Of the BIG BOYS in NC, APP STATE & ECU MAY HAVE a majority of in-state players on their roster. They have Eastern NC on lock, and it's worked out well for them!
I hope our coaching staff continues to cast a wide net to get quality players in. As much as I fuss about it, the Atlanta area and the Daytona Beach area of Florida seem to be the staff's favorite spots to recruit. There are some stud Afr-Amer players in the local tri-county area, and I think he's gotten a commitment out of a kid from Ragsdale, so we'll see...

Baseball culture tends to be extremely racist, but taking PWO offers at D2 programs over D1 schollys is a special breed of stupid. And yeah, itâs endless talent in Florida and Coach Hall has grabbed a few guys that way over the years. Charlotte has really good baseball talent. Greenville, & Wake County too typically. Gwinnett & Cobb County have good black talent and honestly Iâd think some of Western NC is up for grabs too. Texas is so big itâs gotta be plenty of overlooked mid/low major D1 prospects, especially JUCO. Mississippi JUCOs are always extremely deep also.

What you described is why a lot of talented players that would otherwise attend an HBCU on scholarship when offered, were redirected by their family, friends are there High School coaches that'show it "correlates". I know this first hand from my time recruiting athletes.

I know this first hand from my time recruiting athletes. I guess the root of my confusion is you accusing me of âmaking excusesâ when I didnât even defend anything. I literally laughed at the idiots that would tell their kid to go to a small d2 school and pay out of pocket as opposed to a larger and more competitive D1 on a scholarship. Like I only said nothing more and nothing less than that. I understand this forum is debate heavy (esp. during spring/summer), but sometimes yâall go on tangents on absolutely nothing because of prior feelings youâre looking to get off your chest. You argued something that wasnât there in my joke. I donât understand how you even got enough out of that one sentence joke for a paragraph of making excuses towards coaches and their downfalls, something I literally did not do. I have zero loyalty to any of those coaches on A&Ts staff recruiting downfalls. If they come up short, I want them to be better. Hence why I said I AGREE with everything Aggie Dad said.
