April Board of Trustees Facilities Upgrades Questions

I know some of you guys are in the "know" and might be able to answer some questions if you can. The Business Affairs Committee will meet Friday on the following Resolutions/Approvals...Y'all have any more info:

1. North Carolina A&T State University 2024-25 Budget Approval

2. Appointment of Designer for the E-Sports Interior Renovation (Good to see this moving forward and a designer being appointed)

3. Appointment of Material Testing Agency for the Bluford Residence Hall (We need this dorm ASAP...keep moving forward)

4. Appointment of Construction Manager At Risk for the Wellness & Recreation Center (Nice to see this moving forward)

5. Increase in Authorization of Renovation to War Memorial Stadium ($8 Million) (Can't remember what the original number was, so I don' know how much of an increase this is? Details, when we gonna see some upgrades?)

6. Authorization of a New Athletic Field in the Arlee and Stedman Street Area (What is this? Some kind of improvements to the "Holland Bowl"?)

7. Authorization for Demolition of Properties bound by Bluford, Dudley and Lindsey Streets (Great, keep clearing out to make room for new construction)

8. Authorization of Emergency Project to convert Residence Halls and Williams Dining

Hall from Steam Power

9. Authorization for reallocation of funds for previously approved projects for Marteena

Hall, Price Hall and Carver Hall (I know the school has requested a new building to replace Carver, etc...are funds being redirected to other projects as a result? Capital Investments

10. Authorization for Project Renovations to the Aggie Dome (Heard a little about this, but not a lot of details...anybody know more)

11. Authorization of Project to Provide a Provide A Synthetic Football Practice Field at the Football Stadium (We know, but again...details)

12. Authorization of Project for Advance Planning on the New College of Health and

Human Sciences Building (Great to see this moving along...this is state funded ($125M) and very much needed for the largest college on campus)

I believe the original number was $7 million, but I dont think that included the grant we got from some historical agency.

Personally, I expect the only renovation they will start doing by the end of 2024 is to demolish the left field bleachers - which will only make the aesthetics worse for the 2025 season.

Thanks for the update...a $1M increase. I know this issue has been beat to death on the board...and there were issues acquiring the property...environmental concerns, etc...but if they got $8M on hand, NOW what's the hold up. A brother just want to know the plan. From what they have said, "The War" and Softball will be in the same area along with some other improvements is the long term goal. How much will the end goal cost...surely $8M will put a nice dent in that and get the stadium looking like some place a very good D1 team would be proud to call home.

I think $8 million six years ago would put a dent into something. Not sure how far that will stretch with 2024 construction costs.

But like you said, at the very least they could unveil the final plan for War Memorial and post an artistic rendering of what the renovated stadium will look like. That might get fans excited for the future and convince some prospective recruits that we are trying to do better.

Instead, they will probably just march out Kev in a few months and tell him to parrot out the latest excuse on why things unfortunately got delayed again.
