Public Service Announcement: If your class is celebrating its 25th or 50th Anniversary this spring, make plans to attend. Getting an opportunity to see and talk with old classmates is priceless. You may think it's hoyke but I guarantee you will enjoy yourself. And the University staff makes the experience great.

The University surely didn't treat my class well for our 25th. We didn't get robes and barely got any mementos or real recognition. Hope I'm around and mobile for my 50th.

Can't speak for the 25th but the 50th is the bomb! By the way, most of the "mementos and recognitions" came from our classmates. We organized special events, luncheons and gatherings for our class to supplement what the University was doing for us. The University does a lot but your classmates should plan special events too. We even had a 30-minute video that recapped every year we were on campus, with music and pictures from that era. Did your 25th class members pay their registration fee and the University failed to have their robes available? If they paid, that was a misstep by the University. But I've heard nothing but rave reviews from all the 50th Anniversary participants.

Yes, we paid the registration fee and the most we received was a small mention at commencement and a cookout on campus. We sort of sat together at commencement, but it should have been a designated section with us in our regalia, not street clothes. We did not receive the white 25 year robe, which is really the one thing we should have gotten. We didn't get a group photo with the 50 year class. We did take a group photo in our street clothes, but the highlight of the reunion, for me, was to receive the white robe. We didn't even receive any kind of written or verbal explanation for the slight, at least I didn't. I did get an A&T umbrella, which I had to ask for. It is a disappointing memory for me. I just hope I'm still here for 50. I WANT MY WHITE ROBE!!!!

This type of graduation anniversary program has been going on at A&T for about 10 years and this is the first time I've heard there was no robes. I hope someone sent an open letter to the Alumni Office complaining about the oversight. By the way, the 25th anniversary robes are grey, not white. Please don't let this screw up stop you from showing up at your 50th Anniversary. I promise you it will much more organized and heartwarming. Just the fact that you lived to see it will be special. Several years leading up to my 50th Anniversary, I had long conversations with several classmates about how special the event would be and how proud we would be marching in. Well, two of those classmates were not alive to celebrate with me on that grand day. So, I had to show up just to honor them.
