NORFOLK, Va. – North Carolina A&T put an even firmer grip and control on the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) in collegiate bowling on Sunday. The Aggies claimed another MEAC regular-season championship with another undefeated season in conference play. A&T went 4-0 on Sunday in traditional play to complete the weekend at MEAC Meet #2 at AMF Lanes 8-0.
The weekend also improved the Aggies to 16-0 on the season. A&T, the fourth-ranked team in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA), won the MEAC regular season by five games over second-place Delaware State, the 22nd-ranked team in the nation, who finished conference play at 11-5. Over the Aggies' 16 conference games, they totaled 17,800 pins over 85 games for an average of 209.41. The next closest total pinfall came from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), with nearly 1,000 fewer pins than A&T at 16,835.
A&T has won 32 straight regular-season matches against MEAC opponents and 55 of their last 57 matchups against conference foes. The last time they lost a regular-season MEAC match came on Feb. 20, 2022, against UMES.
"We did a better job on our spares, although we were still human and missed some. But that's going to happen," said A&T graduate anchor Lauren Tomaszewski. "We did a pretty good job controlling the pocket and not splitting too much. We need to work on our energy and focus throughout the days and dig deep.
