I think this thread should be mailed to all A&T Alumni, it may greatly increase donations and awareness of the need to support ours.

I want to first say to everyone in Aggieland and everyone reading this that you are loved. I'd be the first one to welcome you to join me for a tailgate or to watch a game together. It must be a hard and stressful way to live in fear of "the others" constantly. Other than fear, what reason is there to not be accepting of people different than you. I love that this thread started on MLK Day and we are here in 2024 actually debating what the right amount of melanin is for a college Chancellor. I think it's safe to say we ran out of real problems. Shackling ourselves to injustices of the past does not give us the right conduct injustices of our own. We are an educational institution with a beautiful history. Let's just have a Chancellor who can promote a beautiful future. He are she speaks with a white mind. I fear no man glory to my god. I will not look down upon any person of color living with fear in America. Where have you been since Obama retired? The Trump years should have all people in America seriously concerned. x.com/Patriots/status/1747673488712671456?s=20a "white mind"? Trump? We are talking about a Chancellor for A&T. I really hope you can find peace and meet some kind people in your life from all walks of life. Maybe do some traveling. This is a big and beautiful world. Their are all kinds of people in it. You should meet them. Most of them are very nice people. Most of them would make wonderful Aggies. Look at my initial comment on this thread. I only commented so I can follow along the racists and their logic. It worked. You don't like Trump? OK. I don't think he'll be our Chancellor. How about Biden? Remember his speech on integration and warning of the impending "racial jungle" that he feared for his kids? That might be more to your liking. Not mine, but thankfully he is also not being considered for Chancellor. Politicians will never really care about A&T unless it's an election year anyways. Some folks want to see this institution succeed and move forward into a new era of intellectual and academic competitiveness. others want to remain fixated on the hate they've been taught. When skin color isn't enough, now you divide their minds? What if I don't have a "white mind, or a black mind"? What if my people are from remote Patagonia and came here for an opportunity and to succeed and found a home at A&T. What color mind would you assign me then? I encourage everyone to read the letter Hiram Revels wrote to US Grant in 1875 about folks trying to steer and control certain groups for power and votes. I won't be ruled by fear. If the best Chancellor is available...hire that person.

This thread will have A&T and its alums labelled as racist and calling for discrimantory hiring practices. Honestly, this thread should have never been started because is definitely stinks of discrimination.
A&T is a state owned institution, there is no "ours"....it belongs to the state and its citizens of all races.

Can you imagine somebody of a different skin tone being chancellor? What a disgusting thought? lol. I'm only commenting on here so I can follow the racists down the logic of "it's not racist, it's history. It's not hate, it's our culture. It's our heritage and legacy, we must protect it". Those are the same talking points all racist groups have. And each side thinks they have the unique argument because of history and heritage and culture, etc...Here's an idea: How about we promote the best person for the job? Maybe someone who has a deep understanding and appreciation for the history of A&T and from where we came to where we want to be. This "Caucasian people...this" and "Caucasian people...that" is so silly in 2024. Part of me hopes for a curveball and A&T announces a Hispanic or Asian chancellor. In the end don't we want the person who will honor our history and position A&T for the best success? We want our Aggie grads out in the world succeeding and representing the knowledge and leadership they gained from the institution. We want Aggie grads out in the world being good people and becoming good mentors to future generations of potential Aggies. Why racially limit an institution because of skin tone? It was never right to do in the past, and is never right to do now. We still going to have haters that the person isn't black enough, or is this or that. With everything going on we still have energy for racial haters, race hustlers, and race dividers? We better than that. With all of these cultural and popular celebrity "gatekeepers" dictating directions for groups of people, when is it ok to be a free thinking individual? Just remember this, as long as we all stay labeled and divided and against each other, we can never unite against the ones doing the dividing. A&T has a unique and beautiful history. We should be proud of that. It's special to us and we must continue to honor those had made the sacrifices for us in those times. Let's honor that legacy by showing how much we've moved past color to show that our institution can excel in all areas that all other institutions can excel in...regardless of what shade our Chancellor is. I think we can all rally around Aggie Pride. It's a big, and welcoming tent. It’s a great I have a dream speech. I take this statement to mean you would not have a problem with us becoming UN CG East With the way that school's funding and enrollment is falling off a cliff as we speak, an A&T West may be the more likely outcome which would be good for us.

I daydreamed about that in this thread: bluedeathvalley.proboards.com/thread/19689/uncg-lost-students-past-years?page=1As far the possibility of a white chancellor, after reading the various positions on this particular thread my position has changed. I'm all for the best man for the job, period. For me, the viability and continued improvement of my beloved alma mater far outweighs the need to have someone of a particular race leading the way. It is simply not right that I can state the top three professors at T I had that helped me along the way the absolute most were all white, but turn around and be against a white chancellor. That isn't to say that Black professors didn't help me along a great deal as well or were incapable of doing so. But it is to say to hold someone from a position based on race in 2024 is stupid. Period.

I am not ruling out any potential hire that can help A&T solely because of race. I repeat: I, Aggiedad17, am in NO WAY advocating for racially discriminating hiring practices within A&T or the greater UNC system. That is not OK. That was never OK. It will never be OK. Racism is never OK. No matter what direction it goes. We turn a blind eye to the slaves who make our shoes and phones because they don't look like us. We turn a blind eye to the slaves that around the world RIGHT NOW because we have everything we need here. You can say your stance vexxes me, sure, it does. It is 2024 and people are publicly and openly promoting racism within our educational system. When was it ever OK? Why is it OK now? Should every school work this way? Do we need to take a racial role call at every school and make sure the Chancellor matches the majority? Does this pertain only to skin color, or to religion as well? Where does it end? It's only a matter of a few years before the majority will claim "multi-ethnic" and just be a mixture.

We do not know what struggle you are referring to...The chancellor is not leading anyone through a struggle. The Chancellor job is to ensure the best education possible for the students and ensure they are prepared for the real world, not to lead marches and become a civil rights activist. It seems like what you believe a chancellor is responsible for is a bit off base. The merger can occur, and white chancellor can still be hired. There is no logical reason why a white chancellor cannot be hired.
