Some have said it , but gotta pay him out of the Wssu contract and then pay him again and probably more this time since we let him go. I don’t think I’d want to go back to a job that just let me go. And if they want me to comeback I’m going to need a hefty amount of money. Which is why we don't need to use mental energy behind something we know won't happen. Brown would have kept him on staff last year if he wanted him (Barnette). If he'd have known how this season was going to end up he definitely would have. And then he would've fired him when the season ended.

In my opinion, Coach Brown made 3 major mistakes when he assembled his staff: 1) releasing Jason Makrinos, 2) releasing Chris Barnette, 3) Hiring Chris Young

That is not a good sign. If we have to go through our HR department, this position probably won't be filled until March or April.

I also hope you can find a separate job posting for the quarterbacks coach position. If not, that probably means they intend it to be a combined role for the OC again.

Isn't there a limit on the number of assistant coaches? Someone else on the staff would need to go, in order to create a QB Coach position. The job description: Reporting to the Head Football Coach, the Assistant Coach/Offensive Coordinator is responsible for all administrative and organizational aspects of the offense. The position will serve as the Offensive Coordinator and a positional coach based on expertise. The Assistant Football Coach will support the Head Football Coach in the duties of successfully operating NCA&T’s offensive football program, including but not limited to coordination of offensive schemes/personnel/staff, recruiting student-athletes, planning practice sessions/game preparation/game-day coaching, monitoring the student-athletes academically and managing game day responsibilities. The Assistant Coach-Offensive Coordinator will provide support to the Head Football coach in all aspects of on-field coaching and player development, academic success, strength and conditioning, recruiting, planning of practice, organization of team meetings, film study, scheduling and trip management, scouting opponents, game preparation and other duties as assigned

Why do we have a cornerbacks coach and a safeties coach?
Combine those positions into one normal DB coach and give me a real QB coach.

That is not a good sign. If we have to go through our HR department, this position probably won't be filled until March or April. The fact that the ad came out as quick as it did is an encouraging sign. Now we wait and see how long it takes before a hire is made. I will consider this Day 0 and we should keep track. If it’s under 45 days…that’s a success…

45 days would be after the Early Signing period this month and National Signing Day in February.
That would mean we recruited a full crop of players without an offensive coordinator on staff and without even knowing what kind of system he will run.
That would be a disaster.

The posting probably went live yesterday but I can assure you it was submitted as soon as he informed Young his services were no longer needed.

We would miss ESD but not National Signing Day. Coach Brown knows what type of offense he wants to run. And I think he has capable coaches still with the staff that knows this as well. I would hope we would know in a week. But as somebody who works in the government…it typically takes 3-6 months to get an ad out and then another 3-6 months to get them on board… I’m just trying to give a pitch that’s realistic and attainable.
